Ice Cream

John Heald has started asking questions about the "free" 24 hour ice cream over on FB. As a follower of his page I have learned that when he starts this it means nothing good for passengers.

It usually means:

1. Start charging for it.

2. Take it away totally.

3. Limit the time of access.

What do you think.

What spectacular thing does NCL do? You are a minority on the ice cream machine. It's soft serve, and always available. I'd sure miss that treat if they took it away and Carnival is known for that feature.

Oh great, lets stir the pot not about ice cream.

He is asking a simple question... why can't people just answer without thinking of a motive? He always asks simple questions for discussion, and not all have resulted in change.

Norwegian has a soft serve (ice milk) machine (or two) AS WELL AS normal (real) ice cream in the buffet for lunch and dinner hours. (Including sprinkles, gummi bears, sauces, and other garnishes). :p

He's asked about the ice cream in the past. Nothing's changed because if his question from a few months ago. (shrugs)

I say, "If changes do come about because he asked this question........it is what it is."

I wouldn't read anything into it. It's just something for people to chat about. He likes to stay in touch with other cruisers via his FB page. The majority of his quick-fire questions have no hidden implications. They're just random thoughts he comes up with. If one of his questions was "Should everyone wear green socks on Tuesday?", that doesn't mean it's going to become a requirement when cruising. It's just a random thought with no ulterior motive.

From what I've noticed by following John's posts, he typically will ask something like this based on a comment he received. It seems to me he'll ask the ice cream question whenever some parent complains to him that Carnival should limit access to the machines because their kids eat too much of it.

John does not post these questions on a personal whim. The questions come from Carnival corporate and he is paid a salary to perform this function as a part of his job description.

LOL. I guess since he has been talking about Red Frog beer that means this beverage is in its final days! Never mind they built a brewery on the Vista. Hahaha. Though sometimes there are hidden meanings behind some questions I am not sure the "ice cream" is going away.... hahaha

Only time will tell what, if any, changes come to the 24/7 included in the fare soft serve. hahaha ;)

Well they installed a 24 hour ice cream machine in the Family Harbor Lounge on Vista so I don't see it going away. His question was in response to a lady having a hissy fit that her kids would have access to it at all times of the day and night. It's called poor parenting and nothing more.

He also provides direct market research for the marketing dept... Instead of having to do a serperate market questionnaire "poll" he has a built in focus group to weigh in on things.

Very often John says he is asked by corporate to ask specific quick-fire questions. As the poster above states John has his own focus group to question. It's not wrong to take advantage of that fact but I won't pretend that John capriciously asks his readers these kinds of questions either.

More like star struck, attention clamoring groupies. They would say that anything Carnival does is brilliant. It's nauseous making. Not sure that their data should be considered objective.

There are always quite a few people that complain that their kids would keep eating ice cream later than the parents wanted and so they would complain to Carnival saying that they should close them down so the kids wouldn't eat later than the parents wanted.

This is what's known as a personal problem.

Lol. Ok that was funny. I hope his random quick fire questions are not the basis for the beards making changes to things on the ship as it would be a very poor representation of the cruising population.

The reality is they can almost do whatever they want as they have massive profits and people keep coming back. It hasn't gone so poorly for me yet to choose another line due to cost, but one day I may get to that tipping point, but again, they could care less if they lost me or any of us as customers...always new ones coming on board.

Likely will limit it like Royal and NCL, I don't see them charging. I think that you realize the using the title of the thread was like using a title like "Sex", people are going to click on it. LOL at least people like me who love ice cream (one of the best parts of the cruise):p. I was told that its actually frozen yogurt.

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO deborahjo:Have been sailing on Carnival Cruise Line since before 2000. Carnival Cruise Line has always had ice cream at no extra charge. They used to have fewer ice cream machines and they would be closed during certain hours of the day. Such as when I finished in the casino and was looking forward to having ice cream. Carnival has more ice cream machines today and it is usually available at most hours. Don't think Carnival will charge extra for ice cream the way NCL and RCCL currently does.
