Everything.. ESCAPE (live 29 Oct 2015!)

Recommended Posts

LMAO! I didn't even notice that.

We knew where Escape was going prior to the steel cutting. I wish they'd announce The Bliss home port.

(Sorry to derail, but someone is slacking making an Everything Bliss thread *cough FreestyleNovice cough*.) [emoji6]

:D I will introduce you two as co founders for the Bliss thread in the openings post hehe. ;)

Thanks Barnacle! :D

Exciting to see the Genting World! Might be worth a thread too!

Where did you see the Bliss block plan? ;)

Seeing lots of new pics, Rocky also collected some good ones:

Is this where the rock climbing would have been, back at the funnel, underneath the zip line across the rope course aka the aft loop of the running track?

I didn't realize there would be no rock climbing wall. Sort of surprised at that. No big loss for me though, as I would rather have extra seating.

Hopefully the bliss will also be in Florida

Thanks for posing! A couple random things I noticed: Skyline Bar seems to have a stage, suggesting live music in there each night. 5:00 somewhere also has a stage, but also seems to have some serious lighting (did BA/GA have such serious lighting in there?), suggesting possible use as a dancing venue. Pure speculation on my part, will be interesting to see how it pans out.

Totally agree with you that announcements regarding Bliss are late. The home port of Escape was announced on March 12, 2014 and itineraries were open to Latitudes Reward Member on March 25 - that is one year and 7 months before the first sailing. Bliss is supposed to start sailing in April 2017 and little has been announced so far.

I'm guessing they are trying to determine if they will send BLISS directly to China. Seems to be the trend these days to send your newest and best over there. The Chinese don't want anything less.

Greetings

That is a good guess but they are probably trying to keep the options open since the Chinese economy is in a down turn. And we still don't know if Europe is going to see an economic recovery or if the entire south Med and Turkey are going to be off the cruising schedules. Then there is the biggest unknown, will Cuba open. I would not want to be the one having to commit given these unsettled times.

Good Sailing

All very true! Even with the downturn in the Chinese economy I think the yields are higher than North America and Europe and apparently the onboard spend is outrages. Not the bar but the shops. If BLISS does head to China expect some very high end retail to be installed onboard like Royal Caribbean did with QUANTUM.

NCL has to think long term. Even if the economy right now is slowing down in China, they don't want to miss the boat so to speak. Now is the time to get yourself established in China and create a market for your brand. It will probably pay off in the long run.

Cruise Critic just posted a bunch of photos on their facebook page of their visit to the Escape! Enjoy ;) :D

Interesting what they said about the Skyline bar being open to the casino. I'm having some trouble picturing that, and am not so sure that's a good thing!

NCL has always mentioned that on the description on their website. I picture it just being a casino-bar extension with the surrounding screens being similar to the concept behind the Two70 space on Quantum - but in a far more simplified way. It would give the space more versatility to change the environment as the day progresses.

Very exciting times! Following this thread & the Editor's thread with great interest but then we will be sailing on her next month!

I think there was some speculation about whether there would be any inaugural events & I've read several articles now - the last one being in Cruise International magazine that state there will be events in Europe & Miami but it doesn't say what they will be!

Oh Barnacle - we don't have a cruise booked for 2017 as yet so a Bliss inaugural sounds good to me!

I wonder where she will be placed - a season in Europe first would make sense - we'll keep our fingers crossed!

Since NCL is seemingly releasing the itinerary late, does anyone have an idea on how late?

I wish they would stick a ship in Puerto Rico full time, so we can have more southern Caribbean sailings.

I totally agree i love Southern Caribbean in winter ...please bring them back from Puerto Rivo .....i dont want to leave from New york in winter way too cold

How about Escape or Bliss or breakaway

Maybe the space will finally be used. It is empty on the Away ships as Bliss 20 hours a day.

I imagine that's why all of the major lines are moving away from building dedicated dance clubs on their recent new builds. Fine with me, provided there's still a good place to dance late night.

Already crowned best Haven complex by CC:

"The Haven, Norwegian's popular boutique ship-within-a-ship is the best in the fleet (or will be). For one, it's three decks high, which means two decks of suites. As well, the indoor/outdoor pool area just feels bigger and more spacious. We love the elevators, a new addition, and a beautiful grand staircase."

"Especially key in making this the best ever Haven is the alfresco restaurant space, right off the main eatery."

Is it me, or does the description of the Escape Haven sound a bit like the Epic Haven? The Epic had two decks of suites and also had a private elevator between 15, 16 and 18 (Posh).

I'm going to miss certain aspects of the Epic Haven, including access to Posh and the open-air, but closed-off casual eating/bar area, and the private gym. I'm anxiously awaiting to see the new area to see how it all adds up.
