I know I am on a cruise, when I can throw my carryon stuff in my cabin, find a bar, get a fruity NA drink with umbrella and maraschino cherry, and can just sit. Nothing more to do than sit, until muster drill. Sit and smile.:)

When I hear that first "ding" of my card being scanned in at boarding!

when I finish muster, feel the breeze as the ship leaves port and watch the pilot boat depart.

Agree, all the hassle of travel and checking in are complete. Now you can explore the ship and enjoy the cruise.

I lock my phone in the safe!!!

When we sit down for lunch and I look at my wife and say “We are back where we belong.”

When I watch the ship sail away from port, and when my cell phone loses signal.

When I flop down in a lounge chair with lunch and my favorite drink in hand, watching all the happy people mingling on the lido deck. All the anticipation, preperation and travel is behind. This is the point I feel Im really on vacation.

When I get my luggage unpacked and get done with Muster Drill!!!

When we've checked in, and go along a corridor with a notice: "To The Ship".

It thrills me every time!

When I walk in my room, throw my backpack on the bed, head to the balcony and pop open the bottle of champagne.

when they hand you that glass of champagne on boarding..... ( only been on P one time )

on carnival when I'm sitting in front of a bowl of Mongolian wok and a funship special

on royal Caribbean, when I take out a loan for two bud lights at the atrium bar!

and there are others.....;)

When we hand our luggage off to the porters and walk thorough security to check in. Then there is always the first ding and the glass of bad champagne. :D

When I order that first Princess Hot Dog.

When I wear shorts in 30 degree weather.

When I step off the boarding ramp and unto the Promenade deck.

When our taxi is approaching the port and I catch a glimpse of ships in the distance!

When we stroll into the cavernous atrium of the ship and everything is pristine and sparkling, the stress melts away, I am filled with joy and cruise mode sets in. :D

...when I settle in as fast as possible and find a quiet location to park my body and I turn on my favorite relaxation music (via headphone if NOT in my cabin), close my eyes and start days' worth of just vegetating with no needed activities other than sleeping, eating, and relaxing...
