All Inclusive drink packages-Golden Princess

Recommended Posts

The Australian based ships do not charge service or optional gratuities. Therefore the drink package is definitely A$59/per day but you need to buy it when you get on board to get this rate. If you do it beforehand, I think the computer is charging the USD rate and converting plus adding service. So wait until you get on board and you will only pay the $59

Sorry meant to say, when you get on board there are tables set up near all eateries and bars with posters displaying the package and a selection of the drinks included displayed on the tables. You will have no problem purchasing once you board the ship.

Or go the first bar you see. They'll sell it to you.

Thanks for your reply, I am aware of where to purchase them onboard, If we do we will wait till aboard to use our OBC. Just waiting to work out if it is worthwhile as we can bring soft drinks and water and wine on Princess, plus we have our free mini bar setup.....so it will depend on the cost of the package.

Did you purchase it for this price?

No I haven't purchased the package. I am in the industry, and did an inspection of the Dawn just last week and had the package explained to me. That price is def only available onboard. The 15% charged on overseas ships is the service charge which doesn't apply in Oz as we are not required to pay the service charge. But I guess that is because the drinks are significantly dearer for us, the service is built into the price. Cocktails are $14, so if you like cocktails I reckon its worth it. If you only drink beer or wine...then not so sure as they average between $7-$8 a drink.

Just bumping this one back up to see if anyone has been on a Australian based Princess cruise yet and got an All inclusive drink package.

Just checked our personaliser for our next two Princess cruises, Dawn and Emerald, both are offering the package for purchase online at $73.74AUD:eek:

bit of a jump from the $59 that is discussed here.

Still better value than our next cruises on the Voyager and Explorer.....at $87AUD, and Princess include everything, so wondering if anyone has experienced it first hand yet.

How strange, I just checked the personaliser on our next cruise on the Golden and the price for all inclusive beverage package is AU $64.90. It says for drinks up to $10. Will still be waiting until we are on board, but would be great to have an exact amount so we can budget for it.

I know, mine is still showing $73.74 for both cruises, both booked direct with Princess, must be the conversion from USD.

I would budget for the $59AUD and get it onboard, especially if you have OBC.

Even with just beer though break even is at around 6 a day, and that's without the non alcoholic drinks.

Spoke to Princess rep yesterday, and it was confirmed by a Princess rep in Australia. Took a while for both the US rep and the Aust rep to work it out but the current AIBP showing on our Personalisers is a mistake, should not be there. Its the US model. You would think after identifying that it is showing up on Australian Personalisers that they would have removed it quickly. However being the weekend I suppose they don't have their IT people working.

They confirmed that the $59 package is what we have and is definitely only going to be available for purchase on board for drinks up to $14.

Princess was most apologetic about the mistake, I hope people don't fall for it and buy the packages and if they do that Princess fix it for them.

Thankyou, it is all a bit confusing! Especially for those not on CC.

$59 is a great deal with everything included for those that drink more than a couple a day.

I hadn't looked on the Princess Personaliser for a while so was shocked to see the price there.

Hopefully they will add it to the Princess website so that we can prepay it before the cruise :)

I found it in my Personalizer today. I was surprised to find it, as the cruise is a 3 night Sydney-Melbourne sailing 11/11/2016. Hopefully this means that it's going to be available for all sailings. I noted the AIBP was AUD$73.75; Unlimited Soda and More Package $8.69; On Board and Casino Credit USD$100 = AUD$125 so to work out the US website prices if in USD, I divide by 4 and multiply by 5 to get the AUD$ price. HTH. Spa and Souvenirs from Gift Services were not listed, don't know the Spa prices, the message said the information was not yet released, and I calculated the other price costs using the above method. My guesstimate for the preliminary costings was only $1 out!

Am planning to take additional funds as Casino Credits, and pay the account if needed in cash, will advise my intention on embarkation.

I had a pleasant surprise to find $68.75 of Goodwill Credit waiting for me. I knew I was to get AUD$55 for the cancelled April 2016 cruise, possibly the extra is currency fluctuation? I'm happy!

According to the information I have received the package only applies to cruises over 7 days. I think this is to avoid the 3 day "Batchelor binge" type of drinking that quite often occurs on the short trips.

I expect so, but given their demographic that may change.

princess in Aus doesn't tend to attract that sort of age range.

They soon would if they offered the drink package on short trips.

Mate of mine is a seasoned cruiser, and when he took his new wife on a 3 day cruise on P&O to see if she liked it the young drunks spoiled the trip to the point where my mate can't convince her to try a longer trip.

Can anyone tell me if the packages can be bought for part of the cruise?

I wouldn't mind seeing how I go with pay-as-you-go and switching to a package after a few days, if it looks like it'd be better value.

Even better would be the ability to only have the package for sea days.

Whole cruise only.

We're currently on Dawn, at Darwin today, and bought the drinks packages for the cruise. We seem to be getting value for money so far but it's borderline. It's not as easy as on RCI - drinks from a bar are just a card swipe but at the MDR or water stations you still have to sign which is a bit of a pain.
