What happens when you purchase casino credits?

So I understand that after purchasing online my credit card is charged right away, I will get an email confirming I have made the purchase, i will get a card showing the credit once onboard.

What do I do then? I only play slots, not any table games. Will the casino give me cash upon presentation of the card or do I have to load it into the slot machine, play, and then if there is any remainder I can get cash back?

I know I can call in but rather than possibly getting wrong information thought I would get personal experiences, thank you.

The OP said that they were purchasing the casino credit in advance and that it would be charged to the credit card. The casino credit would not be on the shipboard account in that case.

Thanks, that is what I was hoping for. Is there a limit to how much they will give in cash? And am I correct in thinking that the card can be cashed before gambling? I can't remember if the slots accept cash?

Thanks Scott, I have done that once before too, but wondered if it was more advantageous, if we wanted to get some cash, to just buy the casino credit.

I wouldn't have this problem. If I gamble the house gets all of my money so there's nothing to cash out!

I have sent myself as much as $500. I am certain you can get more than that though.

Whatever the limit it must be fairly high then.

We always get casino cash to use for various items. You will get cards in your room in amounts up to $100, depending on how much you buy. You take the cards to the cashier in the casino and cash them in. You can cash in as much as you want at a time. It is a great way to have cash on a cruise, but not have to fly with it. Just remember to cash them in before you get to a port because the casino is not open when docked.

We have purchased $2000 in casino credits to get as cash for when we are in the U.S. It was an advantage for us as an Aussie as Princess's exchange rate for only 10%. Our banks rate is 70cents compared with Princess at 90cents to the USD.

When I sail in Australia in November 2016, this is how I'm taking the budgeted taxi fares for Melbourne, my Disembarkation Port-taxis from the port to the hotel and hotel to airport next day, and home airport to home on return! 2 separate Casino credits of $100 and $25 should be more than adequate, and I will have extra cash with me-compulsive over planner here! :D

The Golden Princess will be using AUD$ so no hassles with changing money, just allowing for currency variations!

Thanks for the "heads up" on where to look for the card-am Legally Blind so all the hints on what to look for, and more importantly for me WHERE to look are gratefully received and noted on my Cruise Notepad. Speaking of that, I'd better get another 2 notepads, the information is building up in a VERY positive way. Have already been able to help a former work colleague who is on the same sailing, we're both Blue Card holders, but I have the leisure to search for the information.

Yes.

But when you are finished with the machine, any money still in it must be loaded to your cruise card. (Instructions on doing this are at the machines.)

The cash so loaded is to a casino account, not your cabin account. Once loaded onto your cruise card, you can either insert the card in another machine and download the $$$ into the machine. Or, sooner or later, bring your cruise card to the casino cashier and cash it out.

I buy casino credits every cruise and spend some in the casino and some for other things. I am not aware of any limits or restrictions on the money.

Just thought I would post the result of a phone call I just made to Princess on the cash limits for cashing out casino credits. They said $100,000 dollars in cash.

Not a cash advance. Any item pre-purchased for the cruise is a regular credit card purchase.

As well as anything purchased onboard including setting up a casino account and adding money to it if the same card that is registered onboard.

I do it because it allows me to spread out the cruising expenses so the casino credits hit my credit card in a different month than the onboard expenses. It also saves me from sticker shock when I get off the cruise.

It's just a regular purchase like any other except you get double points.
