Tours to take from Red Hook pier, Brooklyn, NY.

Hi there, we are docking at Red Hook Pier in Brooklyn on the Caribbean Princess. Are there tours available as you disembark? We prefer to just walk off and pick up a tour but this is our first time to NY and we understand there is not much at Red Hook. Should we book a ships tour to be safe.? We don't want to walk a long way to the subway or count on cabs as I have read that it is problematic getting cabs to come back to the ship. Thanks for the help.
