Balcony Partition cannot be opened

Has anyone ever requested balcony partitions to be opened

On adjoining suites?

I have requested this but was told it isn't possible?

Interested in hearing if this is standard procedure.

It depends on the ship. Newer SS ships have the ability to be opened.

We had them open the partition on the destiny for us once it was ok depends on the ship plus the door swung to our side created less space in our balcony.

We are sailing on Silver Spirit. It's not a big deal, but I was surprised that it wasn't possible.

In 2014 on the Spirit I was able to have the door opened. When I asked in 2015, I was told no.

From what we have read here on CC, it is also at the discretion of the Captain. Fire safety is paramount, of course, and should there be a fire, closed partitions obviously stand a much better chance of slowing the fire's spread. Firefighting personnel do know how to get them open though if need be.

No explanation given, Rojo. The butler just said it was no longer allowed.
