Dream SPA Cabin 11206 or 11205

We just booked cabin 11206 for a Nov. 2016 cruise. We were wondering how "private" are these balconies? Could someone one above, below or the side EASILY look into our balcony?:o

We know there's not such thing as 100% privacy on any balcony if ones neighbor wanted to look under or lean over and look around the partition. We just want to know under normal circumstances and without someone going out of their way, is the balcony really private?

Also, any pointers or suggestions concerning these Cloud 9 SPA Suites would be appreciated ! :)

We were in 11206 and while private there are holes in the partitions of the balconies and your neighbors could see you if they were peeking thru. Also, there isn't much room up there, we had someone spill ice above us and onto the 5th floor deck below and everyone looked up and could clearly see us standing on the balcony because the panorama deck juts out.

On 12 you have no balcony cover so I wouldn't even try.

Yes, people can look around the corners (except on the coves). There are also cameras that can see what is going on supposedly, I don't know where they are located- maybe they can only see if you are on the deck railing or leaning over. Deck 11 balconies are covered.

I have not been on deck 12, but people say deck 14 can see down onto the deck 12 balconies and they get sun. Also, we have read reviews of people trying to relax on their deck 12 balconies and not being able to due to the noise of rowdy partiers above if they hang out up there all day.

Make sure you know what is above you on deck 11 in terms of the gym or the waterworks. Loved being so close to the spa, especially on the Dream and Breeze; they both have large Cloud 9 spas (compared to Sunshine, which is also nice, just tiny in comparison). Did not love our spa balcony cabin location which was under the free weights...and that is why I now look at deck plans!

About an hour after we booked 11206, we changed it to 11205. We found out a lot of the tread mills are above 11206 and a few reviews said they could hear the tread mills and banging around early in the mornings!

We had 12211 and liked it. Contrary to popular believe there is some shade. There is a slight overhang and we could sit out and still get shade for a few feet out onto the balcony depending on the direction of the sun. DW liked it as she could still get sun while on our balcony.

There was some annoyance from people at the railing just above us, but it was only for short times during sail away. If you move forward two cabins then they can't stand at the railing as there is glass partitions at the railing.

They really couldn't see much of our balcony, except for maybe feet up on the railing, and then only if they really leaned over (not much difference as any ship if somebody is a real peeper). The annoyance was more loud conversations.

I think your move to 11205 is wise as we frequented the Thermal Suite and I doubt you will hear any noise from above.

We liked deck 12 probably a little better than deck 11 due to the close proximity to the spa. However, 11205 is really close to that little spiral staircase and glass elevator that will get you up one deck to the spa.

The Dream class ships have some of the smallest balconies I have ever seen. Norwegian Breakaway may be a close though. As far as privacy goes on any side facing balconies, if one wants to lean around the partion they will see you. We normally sit out there in the "buff" and have had zero problems.:D The ships cameras only look down the side and not "into" the cabins. There made to spot jumpers and anyone else falling overboard. We've had both deck 11 and 12 on the Dream and prefer 11 starboard side. On 12 we heard chairs being dragged around from about 10pm to 1am and you only have partial overhang giving shade.

That's where I was going about the privacy issue. (Being naturist ourselves):o

We sailed on the Dream before and was two decks above the walking track last time. If someone wanted to try hard enough they could see my DW laying out. We got to the point where we just really didn't care. If someone going to try that hard and deliberately look onto our balcony, then I guess they just get to sneak a peek. No big deal, I don't think anyone is going to die from accidentally looking into our balcony and we haven't died from someone looking at us. lol

We were just in 11206 a month ago. There were no sounds coming from the deck above. We originally booked cabin 11205 but after reading a review of a fellow cruiser he pointed out the first hour into our cruise down the Mississippi and all the highlighted areas were on the port side. Plus I wanted to be on the port side for the dockings.. which we were. We loved that cabin. There was hardley anyone ever out in front of the ship and when there was we didn't have any one looking around our balcony partition. We had no "cameras" on our balcony. THere was no way anyone would be able to see from above as there is no access to see you. I did not see holes in the partition of the balcony next to us. Here are pictures I took. I loved that cabin and would book again.

The white thing overhead was a loud speaker and not a camera

There was hardly anyone ever out here except when we were out there. I had to take my camera and go around to get this picture of the front. Someone would have to be pretty desperate to be looking into your balcony...

Here is the link where I put the review of the highlights going down the Mississippi...

We sat on our balcony drinking champagne and eating strawberries as we cruised for the first hour, looking at the sights TOOTALL had mentioned. It was so much fun... So glad we moved to 11206

We're booked in cabin 11206 - Cloud 9 Spa Suite on the Dream. Sailing out November 22, 2015. A friend of ours had this room previously and raved about this suite. Looking forward to it. :)

You will love it... If you can download the play by play action it is fun looking at the sights for the first hour down the Mississippi. We even saw the Pilot boat hook up close to midnight...

I need to remember to put a towel on my balcony chair before I sit down. Eeeew!

Don't worry we always use towels, don't want "waffle" butt marks.LOL Heck we put towels down everywhere in the cabin when we sit. Never know who was there before.

That brings up a whole new topic. Can't believe the amount of people that walk barefoot on the lido deck and even the gym locker rooms. Wonder how many are scratching there feet right now?LOL

Yes, indeed! I always wear those fancy slippers that they give us.
