Hi,

had an email this morning with an offer of a cruise on MSC Armonia from Marseille. Cannot find many reviews for this ship and wondered if anyone on these boards has sailed on it -----what did you think of it.

Thanks in advance.

I've sailed on her sister ship, MSC Sinfonia. They are both Lirica class ships, the smallest class in the fleet. Some love the intimacy of sailing on smaller ships, others don't like the fewer amenities aboard, such as fewer entertainment venues. I fall into the latter category. Having said that, I did 35 nights in total on Sinfonia between September and November last year and enjoyed every minute!

Still, we're looking at MSC Opera (same class) next year and I'm really not too keen. DH wants to go to Cuba and, as it's his birthday, I'm reluctantly agreeing. He lets me have my way 99.9% of the time so it's only fair he gets his when he looks for it.

Going on the Armonia in November, our first time on her, a quick 4 day cruise from Venice to Barca calling into Malta along the way, an absolute bargain that includes 2 nights in Venice and another 2 in Barca and a suite, probably cheaper than staying at home which is just an excuse to Christmas shop in Malta, their jewelery is amazing. We have sailed on the Opera 4 times, a beautiful ship but the cabins are a little small and beware the end balconies on deck 9, tiny. No suite on Opera available last time in Cuba but we had the aurea experience. On NYE last year, we stayed on board in Havana for 3 nights and then did a 4 day cruise. Havana was lovely, we have friends who have been visiting there every year for the past 20 years, but I would not rush back, the socialist ideal is lovely, but nobody seems to do the maintanance, I got fed up of falling into potholes, the locals we met were lovely and friendly and the prevelant music was fab but the city itself needs a lot of TLC. The onboard experience on Opera was better than in the Med or Baltic, the food and service was good and the atmosphere on the pool deck every night was electric.

Bra MSC picks up at every port in the Med so check the prices to a more convenient airport.x

We sailed the Armonia back in 2015 just after the renovation and lengthening of the ship and we loved it :)Very cozy atmosphere onboard and the service was very good. The ship is intimate and a more classic cruiseship than todays megaships but offers a great cruise experience in my opinion. Would love to go back on the MSC Armonia :)

Her is a video from the cruise:

Very interested in reading your Opera experience. We're planning to book a suite for the space - there are no sofas in any other cabins, unlike Armonia, which has sofas in both Aurea and Fantastica cabins.

Hi all,

thank you so much for your replies -doesn't sound as bad as I feared!

My sister and I decided at lunch time to book this cruise .Reasons being-- 1- because we haven't been to any of the ports,2-- Eurostar from London to Marseille included (return) and 3rd reason it was a cheap price for a Fantastica outside cabin in august. We reasoned that it cant be all that bad:eek:.

We know it will be nothing like the beautiful Splendida or the the lovely Magnifica but hey its a holiday and we will go with an open mind. This cruise is overnighting in Palma and Ibiza ,woo hoo must go to a rave:D--not!!

Thanks all for your helpful posts and especially Norwegian Cruiser for the video. Probably have lots of questions before we go.
