Galveston transportation : car rental or shuttle

4 of us will be flying into Huston hobby the day prior to a carnival cruise on the freedom. From what I can tell, a car rental is the same price as a shuttle at approximately $40 each person each way. Am I missing something in my assessment?

Try Supershuttle , it's about $140 for 4 or the same for six. We have hooked up with others on our roll call to share a shuttle. There are no car rental return drops at the cruise terminal. happy cruising

I rented a car at Hobby the day before our cruise, stayed with some friends in Houston that night, drove to Galveston the morning of the cruise, parked across the street from the the port. We payed virtually the same price as a shuttle. The shuttle may save you a few bucks, but if your coming in to Houston the day before, it's a wash. Plus renting a car gives you the freedom of coming and going when you want. If I ever do another cruise out of Galveston, I'll rent a car and keep it for the week. Parking across the street from the port was like $70.

Thanks ATC. I am figuring the costs will be very similar so the rental car seems to be the way to go. I also like the freedom to leave whenever we want as we plan on using self assist leaving the ship.
