Muscat Hotel Day Passes

Hi Guys

Anyone used any hotels in Muscat for a day pass? I've tried the Crown Plaza and it was sooo expensive and the Hyatt aren't replying to me..

As hotels Muscat go, the Crowne Plaza is not considered as expensive. Location and facilities could be better.

The Intercontinental Hotel's "Palm Beach Club" charges from around OMR 15, depending on the day of the week.

The Grand Hyatt is notoriously slack in responding to email. Best to call their direct number. When the hotel is busy, which is often, they are not keen to admit day visitors.

Top of the crop is the vast Shangri La Barr Al Jissah resort. Stunning facilities, but way out of town. That said it is about the same distance from the cruise port ad the other hotels, just in the opposite direction.

Expect to pay a good OMR 30 for the privilege. Also beautiful is the Al Bustan Ritz Carlton Hotel, not quite as far out as the Shangri La.

When you attend any of the hotels Friday brunches, they usually let you use pool, beach etc facilities as well!

A much cheaper option than the hotels, if you want a nice sheltered beach and simpler facilities, but a quite decent little restaurant, is the Muscat Dive Centre (aka OMAN dive center) , half way between the Al Bustan Palace and Shangri La hotels.

We have decided to book the Ritz Carlton/Al Bustan, as we didn't want to do the cruise ship bus thing. Looks good to me!

Good choice. Superb service beach/pool side.

If you have time, ask the driver to take you to the ShangriLa (or Shangorilla, as the locals say) and straight back. Just for the drive over the cliffs and coast road. A few nice photo ops. Shouldn't take more than 20 minutes all up.
