Budapest to Amsterdam Avalon cruise report.....first river cruise

We are on the Avalon Passion and the ship and staff have been excellent. Director Hendrik has conducted special presentations on regional history with WWII and post-era recovery insights we had never heard before. Avalon has been classy and fun. The included tours have been excellent, with good variety of interesting optional choices.

Weather has been great. We've loved the slower pace and smaller cities. We were surprised by the Bishop's Residence in Wurzburg.....the Allies scrambled to protect the structure before winter....no supplies, so they scavenged river wood for a temporary roof.

Lots of fascinating insights....glad we tried this new way of cruising.

Was on the Passion May 4-9, Passau to Vienna, also MY FIRST river cruise. Three nights pre-cruise in Munich.

It was awesome! The first night on the ship after dinner in our room, we were gushing over how we were having the best time ever.

Glad you're having a great cruise with Avalon. We've done two Avalon cruises after 3 Viking and 1 Vantage river cruise, and Avalon is our new favorite. Hendrik is the best cruise director we've sailed with. You're lucky to have him!

So glad that you had a great cruise. We did our second Avalon cruise this year after three cruises with Viking and one with Vantage. We love the Avalon ships--especially the great cabins--and the whole Avalon experience.
