NCL Studios and Wheelchairs?

We will have a wedding guest who is a double amputee and walks with prosthetics but uses a wheelchair for long hours/distances, however he will be traveling solo and might prefer a studio to a larger cabin. He tends not to like accessible hotel rooms and is very self-sufficient. Does anyone know if the wheelchair can fit into the studio size cabins?

Your friend needs to check out this video of a NCL Escape Studio Cabin

as the rooms are extremely small and very little floor space to move about . Probably not the best option but only your friend knows if he'll be able to handle it or not.

  • Cabin door is a standard door that will not accommodate a wheelchair to roll through.
  • Shower may not be able to accommodate a shower seat if he requires one.
  • No floor space to store a wheelchair . Even if it folds the only space would be directly by the cabin door which poses a safety issue in the event of an emergency. The wheelchair can not be stored in the hallway as it violates SOLAS (Safety of Life at Seas) regulations.

Another thing your friend needs to take into consideration is that the corridors in the studio area are even narrower than the corridors on the other cabin decks. The studio cabins as well as the corridors were not designed for wheelchair accessibility. Therefore trying to a get wheelchair down the hallway when the cabin attendants leave their carts or anything left in the hallways is going to be next to impossible. Fast forward to the 1:45 sec mark of this link which shows just how narrow the hallways are.
