Can Onboard Credit Be Used For Anything

I admit I'm a newbie at this. I have two OBC's on my Norwegian Fjord trip in 2018. One is from my TA I believe, and the other is a "promo". I'm thinking that it's probably EBB since we booked about 16 months in advance. I presume this means that it's good for anything.

But in fact, I'd like to use my OBC's for excursions in advance, and as I understand it, I still can't do that. Please change this. (And yes, I know this has been discussed multiple times.)

My point is, what's the point of having credits that you can't use for significant expenditures if you can't use them for excursions booked in advance? And risk not getting them when you board?

Wendy,

Am hoping this is under control and that you won't have any issues as Bonnie has said there are no longer any restrictions on OBC use. As the whole company isn't aware of this change as yet, I'm about 90% convinced and, they are, supposidely, modifying their computer systems to allow booking with OBC from home and are doing the old book, go onboard and cancel, get your credit card money back and use the OBC for cruises thru September. Say they will have this coputer changed by this fall.

Based on history I won't believe it until I actually see it but, am hopeful.

Good news!

Yes, the old EBB OBC can be used for anything onboard (with the regular exceptions of the Casino or future booking deposits.)

I've just had this confirmed by our Hotel Department management.

And I apologize for the conflicting information. I'll make sure we are all on the same page!

Thank you for ferreting out the policy, Bonnie. That's great news!

Thank you for the update, very good news indeed.

I'm not surprised you get conflicting information due to slight lags in communication - Azamara hotel departments are so good at implementing change onboard with very little lead time. I think we can all allow this to continue given that onboard is what matters!

While we are looking forward to our 1st cruise with Azamara, but I am dismayed as to the subject of using OBC. There are continuing questions and conflicting answers from Azamara staff. I can not believe that there is no one singular answer to how SBC can be used and when. This isn't rocket science. Surely, the policy can not be one that seems to change so often leaving the past and present questioners to figure out what they can use this credit for and when. I thought Bonnie had finally gotten a definitive answer several months ago ( we have made copies of past responses) but it appears that there is no correct answer, or if there is one it is lost among the very different responses from Azamara staff. I can only hope that the cruise will be a memorable one, not like Azamara's seemingly ever-changing policies.

Hi Bonnie,

One on board "expense" not mentioned in this discussion is meals for guests on board.

Does the blanket "can be used for anything onboard (with the regular exceptions of the Casino or future booking deposits.)" include meals for guests on board?

"Used for anything (excluding casino and future cruise deposits)" means just that: anything. Any on-board purchases. Speciality restaurants, spa, duty free purchases, all the shops, upgrading beverage package, more expensive cocktails, internet, photographs. And any other "anything" I can't think of.

OBC can not be used for tips or gratuities. So if you add a tip to the specialty dining or spa it will not come out of your OBC

Sent from my iPad using Forums

Just came across this - tips added to specialty dining do come out of your OBC. I typically don't go to the spa so can't answer to that but I do know from our 11 cruises on AZ that specialty dining tips do come out of your OBC.
