Casino Premier (free cabin) w/CCL Insurance.May have to cancel. Similar experience?

Am booked on B2B starting 8/13. My mother (83), in assisted living, is not doing well. She has a chronic disease that has worsened. I'm still 'caregiver' going out to take her food and stuff. Physical disabilities seem to be getting worse too.

Anyway, am looking for specific experiences with having to cancel a Premier cruise with free cabin so close to sailing with Carnival's insurance. If your circumstances didn't qualify for the 'cancellation waiver' and you fell under the 'any reason', did you end up having to pay 25% of the value of your cabin?

I know many have had to cancel with insurance but am looking for any information or experience specifically under a Premier Free Cabin offer with CCL insurance.

I've had one free cabin casino offer that I had to cancel. Well actually, I didn't cancel. I simply could not get to the ship due to airline cancelling flights for several days. Carnival worked with me to my satisfaction. They refunded all of my pre-purchased items. And more importantly, they did not hold me responsible for the value of the free cruise I was supposed to cruise on, even though they could have legally. I sent in considerable airline evidence showing the cancellation was out of my control. I did not have insurance.
