Nieuw Amsterdam VA4166 and 4168 Smoke Smell

Thinking about booking one of these for an Alaskan cruise. Will the smell of smoke be wafting down from above? Would it be any better in an aft cabin?

Can't decide between and aft or one of these with the wider balcony.

Any one have any experience with this?

Smoking is not allowed on balconies any more.

I'm not sure if you're talking from the stacks or from the Lido deck smoking area. In either case you shouldn't have a problem. We've been in the corner suites on decks 5 and 7 repeatedly and never had an issue.

I was asking about smoke from the designated smoking area, I believe it's on the port side. Hopefully nobody will be smoking on their balconies anymore.

The smoking area on the Nieuw Amsterdam is on the STARBOARD side. No cabin on the port side will be affected by smoke unless one of your neighbours violates the rules.

That would be a pretty impressive feat for the smoke from deck 9 aft, making it down and slightly forward to get to your balcony cabin.

Only on Cruise Crtic do these things happen ... ;) I hear, however, that perfume also moves in strange ways ...

Just off a cruise. The ONLY smoking area remaining is the Sea View bar, at the stern. Impossible to sell smoke originating from that area.
