Review of Internet on the Freedom & Calling Home Tips

We cruised on the Freedom Dec 17-24. While on board, I bought the $5 a day social pass. It worked decently for the most part except when we got beyond the Cayman Islands headed toward Jamaica; it ceased to work at all. I think this has something to do with the positioning of the satellites because we also lost tv signal on most channels.

Helpful tip for calling home: if you have a newish iPhone or Android, you can activate Wifi calling before turning airplane mode on, and your phone will use the wifi network to make calls and texts. As long as you only call/text US numbers, there is no additional charge. If you see "VZW WiFi", "AT&T WiFi", etc. in the top left corner of your phone, you're good to go.

What about calls into the ship if you don't get the wifi package? Is there an emergency phone number for the ship available somewhere?

You can't contact guests directly. Give the rep the guest's name, booking number, cabin number, sail date, embarkation port, and your name and contact information. The shore team will contact the ship, and a message will be left at Guest Services. Guest Services would then call the guest's cabin phone. If it is serious enough, they might make an annoucement through the pa system.
