Cruise from Hawaii to South Pacific

We want to cruise from Hawaii to the South Pacific and are looking for suggestions on best ship, best itinerary, etc. It is ok if one way, as we can fly back to Hawaii and then back to the mainland.

This cruise is done twice a year by Celebrity. In the spring Aust to Hawaii . In the fall the reverse. Princess used to do it but stopped a few years ago.

I did the Celebrity Solstice cruise from hawaii to Sydney last year, it was fantastic. It goes via the South Pacific islands and NZ. I'd highly recommend it.

We did this cruise a few weeks ago on Royal's Legend HNL to SYD and flew back to CA. Was our 22nd cruise and the only one we really didn't care for.

We were underwhelmed and not impressed with most of the ports - would rather do the Caribbean - and will not do this itinerary again.

2002 did the Auckland to Honolulu cruise on the RCCL Legend. This started my love affair with French Polynesia and have now been there 7 more times since then. The ship was underwhelming but the ports awesome - except Hilo - didn't care for the town.

Princess do have some cruises incorporating Hawaii and the South Pacific depending when you wish to go.

As an example there is a cruise in October this year leaving and returning to LA which visits Hawaii, Western Samoa, American Samoa, Bora Bora, Papeete and Moorea in French Polynesia

There are also a couple of cruises from Hawaii to Papeete as well as some that end in Sydney but I'm not sure if you want to travel this far.
