Wait listed for dinner

We just booked for the Dream at the end of January. It never crossed my mind when we were talking about going that it would be so close that we might not get first seating for dinner. They said it was sold out but we would be "wait listed". My question is are there any chances we would get bumped up to the first seating or does the wait list usually never work out?

We've been waitlisted on 5 of our cruises. All but one came through. Some were granted about 30 days out, others about 3 days out from the cruise.

A couple of tips - give DCL a call every couple of weeks, just to "confirm" the request is there (remember the squeaky wheel?).

If the request does come through, you won't be notified, it'll just show up on your reservation online that you now have Main seating.

If the request doesn't make it by the time you actually board, go to where the dining changes are being handled onboard (time and location will be in the Navigator you get in the terminal at check in) and make the request again.

Most times, these steps will get the request honored. Sometimes not.

Thanks for the advice. Much appreciated.
