Personally I wouldn't risk it and would renew the drivers license ASAP - don't you also need to do that to drive legally? But to be certain I would contact Carnival and ask them.

 

OP is from NYC, where many folks (my youngest son included) don't have driver's licenses.

If you aren't planning to renew your license, you may want to look into getting a NY State ID. My Special Ed. students (non-drivers) have these as their official state IDs and they are just as legal as a license for the purpose of proving identity. My cousin just used one to fly to Texas a few months ago.
