Hamburg hotel for family of 4

Recommended Posts

We are a family of 4 and have booked a Norwegian Fjords cruise for summer of 2017 and we would like to spend 2 nights prior to our cruise in Hamburg. We will be flying in from NY or Philadelphia. I am looking for some moderate hotel recommendations that would be good for a family, easy to explore and see the city and easy access from the airport and the cruise port.

Thank you so much!

I like the B&B hotels at citys in germany. They are cheap and new hotels with low standard but clean and good. Last weekend i was in hamburg with a friend and his family. they are fourth too. The B&B Hotels offers Family rooms, the kids bed are bunk beds ? ( one bed over the other ). DonĀ“t know how old your kids are. They have three hotels in hamburg. i was many times in the Hamburg - Altona and can say itĀ“s good.

Hamburg - Altona, the hotel ist near to train station Diebsteich

thatĀ“s the metro plan in hamburg. you start at the airport and can take the S1 to the central station and then go with the S3 or S21 to Diebsteich. You have to walk maybe 700 Meters to the Hotel. Take a map before with google. Or take a cab at the airport when you arrive to the hotel.

Ā

With the S3 you can go directly to the landungsbrĆ¼cken where the harbour is, or town hall or central station. At Jungfernstieg or central station you have access to all other train lines. But with the S3 you can go to the most touristic thinks.

Ā

Hamburg have 3 cruise terminals at different places. I think you will know at the beginning of 2017 at which terminal the jade will be. Many cruise companys offers shuttles from the central station but donĀ“t know if NCL will offer these too. So itĀ“s difficult to say how to go there, take a cab or you have to take a train and walking some meters. To choose this you have to wait at which terminal the jade will be.

Hamburg is a great city, one of the must do ist the miniatur wunderland. Do a ticket reservation before your trip

The shopping area is between Jungfernstieg, town hall and central station. to go something to eat in the evening i would prefer the area at harbour ( LandungsbrĆ¼cken) / hafencity. you can walk between the areas or use the metro. the trains are good and comes in short interval ( at day every 10 Minutes one line, sunday or at night maybe about twenty minutes ).

Ā

Other hotel groups like the b&b i know:

There are diffent hotels in Hamburg from these groups but if i see it right they offer no family rooms or only with one kid.

hotel hafen is a good hotel with a great view over the harbour and they offer family rooms for two adults and two children up to 14 years of age. only breakfast with 20 Euro per person is too expensive. but you can take breakfast outside. the hotel is a higher standard then the B&B hotel. I slept there some nights too and i liked it.

Ā

Sorry donĀ“t know other hotels. For myself i used the hotel hafen or the b&b hotel. I would not take a cheap hotel at the reeperbahn because the red light district ( with kids ) and its in the evening loud and would also not take a hotel in St. George ( near to the central station but there are drugs and things i like not ).

If you are still looking for a hotel I can recommend the ADINA Apartment Hotel Hamburg Michel which is ideal for a family because it has got apartments for a very fair price. It's an Australian chain, they also offer a good but quite expensive breakfast, but there are often deals to be had that offer breakfast included. Right next to the hotel there is a wonderful bakery, though, that offers a really good breakfast at a much lower price or you can do your own because there is a full kitchen in the apartment and two supermarkets are nearby. It's easily walkable to the major sights and the bus or underground station, as well. Just google the hotel.

There are several hotels quite near to the harbour and the places where the ships dock ( different ones), but most of them are quite pricey.
