Walking to Canada Place and Coral Princess?

Recommended Posts

We leave this Saturday, May 6, and are staying at the Blue Horizon 2 nights prior. We knew there would be 3 ships in port that day, so planned to walk from our hotel to Canada Place and the terminal/pier--hopefully avoiding the car/cab traffic. We will only have one 25" bag each (on rollers/spinners) and a small backpack each. The weather is supposed to be in the mid 50s with some rain. (We have waterproof raincoats.)

So the question is, is our plan doable/realistic/advisable?

And there's no telling how long Customs/Immigration will take, but we usually head to the ship around 11-11:30, hoping to board in time to have lunch in the MDR. Does that sound possible? We are on Caribe deck, platinum level with Princess.

Thanks in advance for your help. We've had to cancel this cruise twice before for medical issues, so are very excited!

If you are considering walking to canada place it is easy from the blue horizon. It is virtually all down hill . If you do this before afternoon the streets will not be too crowded. I think your time frame will work fine

Your plan is solid, except for the timing. While arriving a little before noon is definitely better than just after, on a three-ship day queues will be long.

The only ways to minimise time in the queues is to be very early - as in 10-10:30am, among the first folks to arrive - or as late as possible - 3pm is good for 4:30pm or later departures (you do want to ensure you're there 90mins before departure time). Of course if you are there really early, you still have to wait around until processing of pax begins - so late is always more efficient for total time spend 'curb to cabin.'

Plus, unless you're a frequent visitor to our fair city - which your question makes me think you are not - boarding early means giving up on 5+ hours more sightseeing!

Thanks for your replies/advice. I think we're going for leaving the Blue Horizon around 10:30 and heading to the queues. You're right, martincath, they'll actually probably board us closer to noon, so it may be quite a wait there. (Have lots of books downloaded.) I'll post later today to tell you how it went.

Although it'd be nice to spend another 4-5 hours touring Vancouver, we walked a lot the past few days (really saw Stanley Park and Granville Island yesterday), and are ready to get onboard the ship. What we saw makes us want to come back and see different things and take longer doing so! (Without a cruise) You were right about that, too--never been here before--didn't want to come and see everything there is so quickly we didn't enjoy it.
