Ovation in Auckland - where do tenders go?

Recommended Posts

Most cruise ships dock at Princess or Queens Wharf when going to Auckland. Ovation of the Seas is too big, so Auckland is listed as a Tender Port. Where do the tenders drop off in Auckland?

Trying to figure out where we can walk to from the drop off point.

Thanks

I'm not sure but I think they came into the Wynyard Quarter wharf.

That is a pleasant area with harbour view bars & restaurants.

A short walk over the pedestrian bridge will bring you to the Viaduct Basin area, and from there you are in the CBD.

Wynyard Quarter is correct.

A word of warning however, be aware getting back to the ship on the tenders can take a long time. Last year for the first visit everyone seemed to leave it until the last minute. Our friends joined the huge queue at 2.30pm and they were in the queue over an Hour! The ship was over an hour late leaving. There is no shelter whilst in the queue.

Thanks very much for the fast answers. Our cruise doesn't leave until 8:45pm, so there may or may not be a last minute rush, but I bet most people will be back on board for dinner. (Too cheap to pay for another meal on-shore they have already paid for on board).

I had read somewhere that the tender arrives a long way away from the CBD, but Wynyard isn't that much further than the other normal wharves.

A summer's evening at a bar on Viaduct basin - sounds nice.

Glad to see you are not leaving till 8.45. Last year they left far too early.
