NCL Escape with a 4 year old - where are kids NOT allowed on the ship?

We will be sailing on the NCL Escape the week of 4/29, myself with my husband and our almost 5 year old son. I'm wondering if kids are allowed in the bars at all. I'm worried my son will want to hang with us more than in the Splash Academy and we want to experience as much on the ship as we can. And we have the unlimited drink package so want to make the most of that at all the bars. Also, are there any shows that he won't be allowed at? I'm assuming they aren't allowed in the Casino which is totally fine. I also keep hearing about VIBE. What is this and is it adults only? Help!!!

Kids are allowed in bars with their parents. It's not like on land! The only place they AREN'T allowed will be "adult only" areas...a pool, nightclub after a certain time, and "adult" shows...that's about it!

Also keep in mind that you can take your drinks anywhere on the ship. So you can enjoy a drink while hanging out by the pool or playing in the sports areas with your son!

That's a good suggestion. I can only imagine what other guests would be thinking if I brought my children into the bar to hang out. I can see why OP wants to explore the ship but if you're with your children, I would also suggest taking your drinks to the pool/sports area.

There is nothing wrong with taking your children into a bar on a cruise ship. It's not like it is in the US. Bars are for the whole family. You can have an alcoholic drink and your children can have a soft drink, all seated at a table together.

I grew up in the UK and I now live in NZ. In both those places, we have family pubs, where you can sit together and have a meal and a drink, as a family. It's nice and there's nothing immoral about it.

While I wouldn't sit "at" the bar with a young child, most bars on the ship have tables and chairs nearby. My son enjoyed hanging out with us during trivia or "name that tune", and we would often bring paper and crayons with us to keep him occupied while we enjoyed the ship's activities.

There were some shows that we did not take him to (comedy, some of the more adult performances), but that was about it.

Kids are welcome in the specialty restaurants, but you may want to be conscientious of the other guests while there. If you child is quiet and well behaved, he will be welcomed.

Totally agree. I've traveled a lot with my DD and she's sat at many bars on ships and land. There's nothing wrong with this.

On a HAL cruise when she and my DS were much younger, when we went into a bar, staff would rush right over bringing them a Roy Rogers and a Shirley Temple with a bowl of peanuts.

Vibe and H2O are adult only areas on Escape. You'll find the right mix of things for your family. My little one doesn't ever want to leave splash academy.

+1 on this. When we toured England, we saw lots of families in pubs w their young children. It is totally normal there.

The craft beer scene has really picked up in our area and all the craft breweries have recognized that their target demographic has kids. They're all very family friendly and even host special kid-friendly events (like giant water slides or a fund raiser for a local kid fighting cancer). It's very normal and common now in our area to see kids sitting at a bar or playing games in a bar type setting. I'm happy for the change - with people bringing the family it's more about socializing and savoring a beer and you simply don't see people drinking just to be drunk in that environment.
