Explorer: Crew quarters

Recommended Posts

We have heard a lot from Regent, and from guest reviews, about the space allocated to guest suites and public areas.

What about crew accommodation on Explorer? Has this been improved from Regent's other ships or has the space allocated to the guests been at the expense of the crew areas?

Do crew members have ship preferences in the same way as guests?

flossie009,

I've had the chance to see the crew area aboard all of our ships and have also stayed in a crew cabin a few times. The accommodations for the crew on Explorer are excellent IMO. Just like on naval ships, the types of crew cabins vary based on the crew members' position. Some share a cabin and others with a higher ranking have their own. The team has a separate common area for socializing, plus a crew bar, and a spacious crew mess for dining.

We also take great care when crew members may have a loved one that is also working on board and we do our best to match up schedules when feasible.

I can also share with you that there are several events and activities planned for crew engagement. The shipboard management team organizes theme events that typically include movie nights, wine & cheese parties, plus many various types of themed parties. They have quite the imagination coming from various nationalities! Plus, there are periodic opportunities for crew shore excursions.

Thanks Susan/David for the Regent crew caring question.

And thanks Jason for providing such a robust Regent crew caring answer.

Very nice to know that the hardworking Regent crew has comfortable living areas. We have enjoyed having Regent crew members on our Regent excursions in Jordan (Petra) a few years ago (pls see below) and in January in Auckland.

A long time ago I took a Cordon Bleu course on the Mariner. the Chef (Michael Katz - a great teacher!) told us (frequently!) that he spent his evenings in the Crew Bar and enjoyed life on board a lot. Wish they would bring back Cordon Bleu...
