Weak drinks

Recommended Posts

Just off Grandeur and was surprised by how weak the drinks have gotten I tried every bar on board and it was the same at all of them they are using a shot glass for all alcohol pours and it is one short pour and I tried the old tip in advance but it made no difference in the pour. I asked a bar tender about it and was told they must use a shot glass and give no more than a single shot pour and are being watched to make sure the follow that guideline.

Definitely not the case in January. We found our favorite bartenders and got some generous pours (although we were on a drink package so it really didn't matter at the end of the day). Was a great week.

That's the difference. You were eligible for unlimited alcohol so it didn't matter how much they put in your glass.

I have never had a weak pour on an RCI ship. I hope this "only one shot" policy is not fleet wide.

On my Adventure cruise last month, most bartenders would measure 1 or 2 shots (depending on what the drink required) & pour a little more from the bottle as he poured the shot in. I remember only one bartender seemed to only do the required pour.

I have never really had a weak drink on any cruise I've been on as well.

Up until this cruise I also always was very happy with the drinks but this time it was a totally different story every drink at every bar was very weak also I like a good spicy Bloody Mary in the morning and in the past they were decent but they are using a different mix now and it also is very watered down it and has little if any spice in it. I asked them to add some more hot sauce but it still tasted very watered down.

I think the drinks are usually hit or miss depending on the bartender... I can order the same drink from 10 different bartenders on board and maybe 5 are very good, while 3 are below good and 2 are terrible... That's drinking Whiskey Sours which should be super easy. A few times I cant even tell whats in my drink, but over half are good usually

just got off the 24 night Trans-Pacific on Explorer and the drinks were weak. The drinks were measured but if I had tipped the bar staff sometimes they'd do an extra squirt, nothing more. The pricing was ridiculous. Royal Signature cocktails were $17, Royal cocktails were $14, and favorites were $11-$11.50. Then there was the pre-mixed crap that sold for $8.50. This was the Cosmo and Jack 'n Coke among others, they poured it out of a plastic jug.

that was January, this is now. RCI has started to enforce new policies, new rules. See what you get on a cruise now.

Cruising is not an "anything goes" affair anymore, apparently. Our drinks have always been so strong, I've asked for them NOT to put so much vodka in! I mean, you don't want to get a buzz from the smell of the drink!!!

Welcome home, I followed your roll call. We plan to book the spring 2019 TP. Hope you had a great time.

Sorry for the hijack:cool:

I hope this isn't the case in 9 days when we board. My daughter has the drink package but she'll be unhappy with weak drinks. I drink for free in the casino but out of Baltimore, the casino will be closed almost as much as its open. Since this was the first cruise after dry dock, maube they'll loosen up. (I can hope, can't I?????)

That's one of the biggest advantages of the drink package imo, When you get a dud, you can just toss it istad of having to complain again and again...

The only time my drink has been weak was because of all the ice in the glass but now i always say no ice.

My last two cruise we had deluxe drink pkg but we noticed that the drinks are not strong like they were in the past. I would wait until pina colada complete then ask for Capt Morgan on top. I think they do try to keep us in line
