Golf recommendation for Puerto Vallarta

My wife and I and another couple are cruising the Mexican Riviera in November and are hoping to golf in Puerto Vallarta. Does anyone have any recommendations / suggestions / warnings?

I donot play golf myself, but know some people use those golfcourts.

Golf seems to be more expensive in Vallarta then in Mexico.

It seems the best courses are in Punta de Mita, which is over 1 hour away from Puerto Vallarta. A cabride there will make it far more expensive of course.

I have played golf in PV a few times, once at the Flamingo Golf Club which is a little way out of town, it was not someplace that I wanted to go back to. And I have played 3 times at the Marina Golf Club each time I enjoyed it. The golf at Punta Mita is private and you have to stay at their hotel. I played before the golf coarse that was designed by Jack Nickolas was built.

It's about a 20-30 min ride from the port - Sadly, Princess doesn't have any golf excursions so you have to figure it out on your own
