I wanted to find out from those lucky cruisers that were on the Styx and Reo Speedwagon and Journey cruise.

How was the cruise and how were the bands ?

Did they put on a great show and meet with fans during the cruise ?

My wife and I went to see the 3 bands together last year and it was a great show. We would have really loved to have been on this cruise but, we have one already booked that we are saving for and would not been able to go on both cruises.

Hope everybody had a great time and many thanks to those that respond.:)

Tommy Shaw of Styx wrote about the experience on the band's Web site, Styxworld.com. Apparently they flew to Cozumel, boarded the ship there for the afternoon, did their show and a Q&A session, then got off before the ship left port. Still, it would've been fun to be there... :)

What an amazing ride!

We had the Platinum pkg. and enjoyed awesome seats for all three shows which we amazing. We had orchestra pit seats for Journey, I will admit that the sound is better on the 1-3 rows, we were so close to the amps. We even won over 5K in the casino! Took home all that we brought and paid for one of our ways there. YEEESSSSS!

We have around 600+ truely awesome pic's of the concerts, meet and greats, Q@A's and various band members. Even some sound bites!

But the best part was some of the people on the boat. Very entertaining!

One of the best vacations we've ever taken and perfect weather to boot.

Tommy, Jay, Lawrence and Todd of Styx were only on the ship while we were in Cozumel. Ricky and Chuck were there all week.

If you have any questions let me know

Wow. Great pyx!

Sad to see only on remnants of the originals remain, though. I didn't expect to see Neal S. back in Journey though. That was a surprise.

Kevin as a blonde, eh? I remeber seeing him a few years back when he first came out....all that fro gone, sort of like seeing Peter Frampton bald. And this was at the same concert!

And James Young looks way different without his beard.

Thnaks for bringing some smiles to my face this morning!

A blonde Kevin was different I agree. I have to say that meeting these guys and hanging out with them gives you a completely different view when your at the shows. For example, Tommy Shaw only gave autographs to a very few, he refused for the most part because he doesn't want anyone to make money on his name. Then people like Bruce and Kevin from REO were a few of the most down to earth people you'd ever meet. Bruce and his longtime girlfriend are genuinely lovely people.

Over all their world was fun to play in for a week but I wouldn't want to live there. One night we were in the casino with all of Journey, REO and 2 from Styx and I escaped for a while to a different deck. I was on overload, the groupies however probably had the time of their life, lol.

Is THAT STEVE PERRY??? OMG, my favorite singer of all time. I saw Journey last year in Richmond and he wasn't there. I had thought he quit or was sick

No that wasn't Steve Perry. His name is Steve Augeri. He does a great job.

My girlfriend and I were on the cruise. We had the most fun we have ever had in our lives. We got to meet all of them. They are very nice guys.

JOURNEY ROCKS!!!!

Hi Poolgal. You guys have some awsome pictures.

Oh, man! That would have been so much fun, to hear Journey again after all this time. Saw them 2x in the days of Steve Perry (whom I adored!)---still one of my all time favorite bands. And REO Speedwagon was my very 1st rock concert! I think I was all of 16 years old!!! Never saw Styx in concert, but I sure did have all their albums well worn. Thanks for sharing all the pics, and the stories from those of you who were lucky enough to be on this cruise. Fun to hear about!

On Thursday night I sat down at a 3 card poker table just to play with my husband. Never played before. Straight flush first hand. Left a little over $1100.00 up. Then the last night after the Journey concert we went to the casino bar just for a last drink with all the great friends we met. I put $100.00 in a large $1 Poker machine. Hit 4 Aces within $40.00 then after I was payed I was playing out my credits and hit 4 Aces with the kicker . I had max bet each time. I also hit the jackpot on a nickel machine earlier in the week. Pretty cool! The last time I cruised on The Sensation I won around 4K. Cruise ships have been good to me. We were so hyped up we didn't go to bed Friday night and watched the ship sail into Miami. Now that was quite a site! Just beautiful! We flew home with one of the Rodie's from Styx , very entertaining.

I only put a sample of pic's on Webshot's. If there is anything special anyone wants I may have it, as I said we have close to 600.

I was putting up the tree today and my son said why aren't you playing Xmas music, I said "I am". This will be Xmas music to me from now on...............It was Journey. lol

Ah!! I wish I would of booked that cruise instead of the Conquest!! Looks like you had a great time!!! REO, Styxx and Journey are three of my favorite groups! I would of loved to have been at the Q & A session! We seen Styx and REO at the Iowa State Fair a few years back and they still sounded great! I miss Dennis De Young being with Styx, but I think the guys had a falling out. We seen Dennis last year in concert, and he said that he is no longer affiliated with the group.

Anyways... I hope Carnival decides to do this again! I wouldnt miss another one!

Honestly, you wouldn't even know Dennis was gone. Its like Jouney with Steve A vs Steve P. They had the same vocal coach. Its absolutely amazing, they all sound like original band members.

Actually Carnival had nothing to do w/this. Except for cashing the checks. It was Clear Channel. They chartered 500 cabins on this ship and wrote some nice checks to Carnival for all of their needs. Band cargo being loaded on and off the ship etc. We know a few of the higher up's in that organization and they "may have" broke even at best. It would have been profitable if they had taken the ship and they are planning on doing just that in the future.

I know a few of the future gigs they are planning but are not being announced yet.

There were ALOT of cranky people on that ship that booked prior to it being the R@R cruise and were very unhappy that they were'nt given the oppurtunity to change and upgrade to the pkg. I can bet however they would have been shocked at the price increase and likely would have said no. Alot of people thought we just paid for 3 regular priced concert tickets. LOL However, I heard from a very few that they received an e-mail just days before and were offered that. I know I couldn't make a financial decision like that 3 days before a cruise. Having said that if you didn't have the concert pkg and were in the right place at the right time you still got a treat. One night Kevin (REO) went to the piano bar and sat down at the piano and played 5 songs. You have no idea!

We were on that cruise. We didn't book the Rock'n Roll cruise, but were offered a chance to upgrade to it through our PVP, which we chose not to. But, we did meet a lot of people going to the concerts and one couple had received two packages in error by Clear Channel and were told to do whatever they wanted with the wrong package. They gave it to us -- bonus for us. We didn't see Styx but did see the rest. We are not fanatic fans but do enjoy them so we only went to the concerts, which were outstanding. The Q&A's were not at convenient times for us (we were assigned early dinner because we were not part of the package). I did meet up with some of the wives of REO in the laundry room of all places (they iron their own clothes), and saw a lot of the band members because our room was in the same corridor as theirs. We also met up with the Journey members on Saturday morning as they were getting ready to leave. We had to go do the cusoms thing and they were in that area. Had a nice chat and some great photos with them.

We also met up with a few people who did not know about it being a Rock'n Roll cruise until they boarded and their rooms were over the Rome Lounge. They were not happy people -- and I don't blame them for being upset.

On the whole the people on board were in great spirits and having a great time. It was a great week.

I remember your post's "When there's a will there's a way", I guess there's a way. The schedule was tough, especially in Cozumel. I heard the sound was aweful for some who didn't have the pkg. Clear Channel made more then one mistake because they have never done this before. For example on the first night (Styx) they randomly gave out orchestra pit seats to anyone that was there including basic pkg. The next day TONS of Platinum pkg. folks (including my husband) went nuts and complained straight to Clear Channel. That stoped fast. Platinum was guarenteed in writing the "First few rows". So for some to be behind a new 2 or 3 rows depending on the show and then be in the 6th row (9 now), well they were unhappy. I spoke w/some Platinum that always ended up in the balcony. By Journey they had alot of bugs worked out, but the lines were still aweful. When you pay as much as "anyone" did to see those shows there should have been no lines.

Sorry, we didn't run into to you on the ship, hope you had a good time.

Poolgal...thanks for the great pictures. I wish I could have been on this cruise. My wife and I are big fans of all 3 bands.

We had 2nd row seats about 8 feet from the stage in Albany,NY in July of 2003 and they were kich a$$, especially Styx. We saw Styx and Reo a couple of years before that also in the pouring rain at our local fair and they gave us a great show for putting up with all the elements.

Hope to catch them again in the future !!!

Thanks again !!!:)

Bob
