3 for free promo

We are sailing 28 days in October using a 3 for free promo. Included in this sale were free gratuities, which are showing as paid in our personalizer. There has been an increase in the auto gratuity fee since we booked. Will we be charged the difference, or will the 'free' still hold? I realize it's not that much money, but I figure someone on this board has already experienced this promotion. I'm just curious about what to expect. Thanks.

You will not have to pay the difference. Your free gratuities promo will cover the gratuities.

Correct. I had the pre-paid gratuities from the promotion on my 10-day Royal cruise in April. The nightly hotel service charge (pre-paid gratuities) was never applied to my folio.

We are currently on the Diamond and have 3 for Free promo. What is it supposed to include in addition to PPG - I cannot find it.

TIA

Promos do change, but believe the 3 for free included Free Stateroom Upgrade, Free Gratuities for guests 1 and 2 and Free Specialty Dining for 2. There may also have been a reduced deposit.

Thank you.

Mine did not include a free upgrade as I did not get one (was always in a mini) but I got a bottle of wine ($50 value) which I did not recall as we don't drink.

That is why I am asking this question - I don't recall wine being as one of the 3 "free" items.

We booked this cruise in winter of 2014/15.

The upgrade is within the selected category, not moving UP a whole category.

When you look at any sale that says "free upgrade", look at the pricing across the whole ship, i.e. all insides would cost $100/day, all OVs would cost $150/day, etc. Therefore the upgrade is being able to book anywhere on the ship in the selected category for the same price.

Did you book thru a TA? Our TA frequently gives us a bottle of wine. We turn it into $20 OBC at the passenger services desk.

Unfortunately I am not able to contact my TA - only have phone # and no e mail and don't want to call from Japan.

It seems that our 3 for free was PPG, free specialty reservation and free wine ($50). We traded the wine for free soda plus package (value $49 + tax).

So I am OK with that.

Thank you all.

I booked a suite last year during the three for free and I received the full cabin OBC. It was $150 pp and I got $300 OBC.

They stated I was booked on the summer special which did not have free OBC.

I did the booking by phoning Princess from UK.The UK side have different specials pricing and could not help me.I only could see pricing in UK money.

Will certainly phone them up again when this special opens.

Thanks for letting me know:)

i interpret their wording that the price shown is not available for us BECAUSE we pay double. so yes, we do pay a different price and we get the full stateroom credit amount.

They again told me solo passenger are not entitled to the free gratuities ,

Therefore I have sent e-mail to Jan.Swatz and Customers Relations stating for the first time ever I am taking the gratuities off my account which is only fair to me, not employees because I paid for two persons although I will be solo.

I don't want any couples who have taken advantage of this offer telling me how mean I am.For if they pay nothing its only correct that solo passengers who pay double rate pay nothing also:cool:.

Wow - punish the crew who have no control over these promos. That will definitely teach Jan Swartz!

I feel sorry for your crew. They will still work really hard to make your trip wonderful and will not get anything from it. Really sad. I am sure many of us like to work like hours and not get compensated.

If you don't like the price/rules for cruising single - I say don't cruise single! Or find a cruise line that you don't have to pay 200%. There are several of them out there.

There is nothing in the fine print (PDF download at https://book.princess.com/BookingSystem/goToUrl.do?srcURL=marketing/pc/promotional/promotions/index.jsp) that precludes solos from getting free grats.

Enjoy your snit fit!

The poster is not objecting to paying 200%.

What the poster is objecting is that two people in a cabin (effectively paying the same 200%) each get free gratuities under this promotion, but a solo paying the same price does not even get free gratuities for one person.
