We sure have Licisca!! Lucky You!!! I had asked a friend of mine who is an MSC fan in Italy and she told me the program does exist in that region as well. I was under the impression that it was just going to be for the USA market. :roll eyes:

I saw a thread about this on the RCL board and as we have our first MSC cruise booked for January was interested.

I've just phoned MSC UK office and been told its only for US and Brazilian cruisers not the rest of the world:(

So far those are the only regions I could find that are offering Status Match at this time.

Under EU laws are they actually allowed to offer it within one EU country and not others. I thought we all had a 'common market'.

I'm not familiar with your laws in Europe kernow,,,but what I did was research each regions MSC website and was able to pull the links from there. There were 3 MSC websites where I could not find any information or links to the Loyalty Match program,,MSC UK,,MSC Brazil,,and MSC ES. I would think the program would be launched region wide,,but then again,,this is MSC we are talking about,,,:rolleyes:

I wrote to MSC offices yesterday and got 2 different answers, then finally they agreed on one solution, but the swing of the points among different cruises's fidelity program is not so clear, they mention something like a fair swap, but I am waiting for seeing the first answers given to those who have already filled and sent the form. We are an italian FB group and we have a lot of MSC and costa members

I spoke to my Travel Agent who called her contact at MSC.

The conversion is simple, if you are a Diamond or an Elite on Celebrity or Princess etc you get a Black card on MSC. This is only an example I do not know all cruise line reward categories.

BUT, I was also told something we must be aware of. There is an expiration date on this upgraded card, 3-years. If you do not take another MSC cruise in 3 years you go back to zero. Of course they are still hammering some of this out.

The theory behing that in the U.S. many cruisers do not know of MSC so they are hoping this will get them try them.

My gut tells me that the expiration date will go away but the date to apply will not.

I agree and disagree.

I definitly would not rush to MSC for the rewards. Like you said, Royal, Celebrity, and Princess are giving us much more.

But I am already going on MSC and can use the discounts that I would not have had so it not worthless to me

But not all EU countries are the same are they?? I know MSC German cruisers can pay more than MSC UK cruisers. The German cruising market is larger than UK market possibly a better test bed??

UK is not part of the Eurozone and not party to Schengen.

I wonder how they will treat the Swiss and Norwegians who are not even part of the EU??

More tinkering around the edges by MSC! it may well be that they are breaking EU laws and until someone actually challenges them nothing will change.

It is wrong to only offer this system to certain parties and not others, I remember on our Divina TA one of the crew telling us that Americans get Free water at Dinner but Europeans don`t, when asked why the answer was well they expect to pay for it on European cruises so they are being charged on this one!

But this Diamond on Cutback Cruise Lines is doing it despite how BRILLIANT Diamond is on CCL

I tried to fill out the form in entirety but there is an area for you to upload 'proof' of your status on another cruiseline !

I have Elite on Celebrity and even though put in the number...I cannot submit the form because I have no 'file' I can attach for proof.

Also the terms state I will get this matching status upon boarding MSC for the FIRST time. This does not seem to apply to prior cruisers !

I tried registering. They want upload of my C&A card. First of all, it has no date. Secondly, they only issue one card, at the beginning. I've been Platinum for the last 3 cruises, but,of course, my card says silver. They also want the card uploaded to them. Are they kidding?
