It was going to be the Dream from Montego Bay, but looks like this might now have swapped to Discovery 2 as it has replaced Dream's Caymen stops.

Discovery 2 would be then doing Canaries until end of October, then going over to Montego Bay for the rest of the season, with Dream taking over the Canaries. Matches Funchal's schedules also.

Celebration does look to be doing similar to Discovery, so either it will join home porting in Barbados, or will go from Dom Rep possibly?

I may be wrong here but I seem to think I once read that the older Thomson ships (Celebration) might have problems meeting environmental requirements in US waters so would be surprised if she called at any US ports. Having said that I think there is great scope for Thomson to extend their itineraries to include some with US ports. Autumn doing New York, New England and Canada could extend the season before de camping to the Caribbean. And including Florida and New Orleans for example would be an exciting development. But from research from our resident itinerary sleuths I don't think it's on the cards - yet.

Oh dear! So they are positioning both Discoveries in the Caribbean which leaves the Dream for the Canaries. IMO the Discoveries are vastly superior to anything else Thomson has. I was hoping a nice Discovery cruise to the Canaries would be good for winter 2017/18 but now.....:(

At least if you choose correctly you can get a reasonable single cabin on Dream compared with the poor ones on Celebration.

just checked the port of St maarteen and the thomson celebration is booked in their for winter 17/18 but must be only ports of call as due at 08:00 and leaves at 18:00 , maybe St Lucia as as start point , or maybe hey will leave from San Juan

Hope it's not SanJuan as you have to go thru immigration there and it takes ages.

The cruise flights tie in with land holidays - I know that Thomson recently announced a world wide cities break programme however I wouldn't think that 3rd party flying would deliver the margins that in house flying would. They fly into Dom Rep already - can they be linked to La Romana? What about Cuba, can any ports be a suitable home port?

Thomson pulled out if Foying in to Havana for cruise passengers due to all the hassle they encountered I.e. Exit charges at the airport and lost luggage on arrival which is why Montego Bay is now home port for cruises to Cuba

Also other resorts in Cuba where Thomson wanted on their itinerary have incomplete port facilities (due to China pulling financial support) so they had to be dropped

Has anyone looked as to whether Celebration is booked in at any ports in the Middle East I'm asking this cos before they got Dream Celebration was used to book ports in the Caribbean as it was still a Costa ship so maybe they are using Celebrations name again to book in Discovery 2 as its still with RCI

I don't recall anyone saying what ship was used last year to book Discovery into Caribbean ports for this coming winter season

As I understand it Funchal is a normal weekly call for the Canaries cruises so if Dream is only there a few times what is going on

I don't like all this uncertainty

Could it be doing round trip TAs to the Caribbean sailing out of the UK calling at Madeira on the way - might appeal to some who don't want to fly or like the long flights? About 2 weeks TA with stops in the Azores /Madeira/Canaries en route for a break then one week in the Caribbean Islands?

Cuba is great - Havana is a fab city, we love it. I'd definitely recommend going preferably before it becomes too commercialised with McD Starbucks etc moving in! So put that top of your list So,ton Saint! ;)

Hi Kruzseeka yes i think your right, have never been there even when i was in the MN looking forward to boarding discovery 1 in march, as for cruises from Southampton let,s wait for the other two to arrive and i think one of the fleet can nestle in with big boy,s and have a good following there,s plenty of room for another company. :)
