Triumph Riviera Deck

I've booked my first cruise on the Triumph for this October. When I called Carnival the rep said that for first time cruisers he recommends the Riviera Deck. My sister booked it since the price was really good.

I just wanted to know if anyone has stayed in the Riviera Deck and what you think of it.

It's the bottom floor....if you want to be closer to the action, I'd call Carnival to see what they have available on a higher floor.

Nothing wrong with Riviera/Main (decks 1 & 2). These decks are usually pretty quiet. Less motion than up top and the elevators are usually easier to call from these decks (except on embarkation and disembarkation days). Its really not that far from the action. Riviera is only 2 decks below the atrium/guest services on the triumph. Not a bad walk at all. We have only sailed on riviera or main on all of our carnival cruises.

On Fantasy class ships, I want to be on Empress deck so I can take the stairs everywhere I go(up 1-3 flights). On all the larger classes, with promenade and lido separated by multiple passengers decks, I don't care what deck I'm on because I know I'll be using elevators nearly everyplace I want to go.

My first cruise was Riviera. You should look at what part of the boat you're in. In the front you can hear the anchor. In the back I've heard you can hear the engine. I was all the way in the front on my first cruise and the anchor was loud on port days. I'm an early riser so I was up by then anyway. I wasn't a fan of having to take the elevator that far down. If you were going from say deck 10 all the way down to riviera, you may have to make a bunch of stops on the way down. I moved up to upper for my second cruise and I'm moving up to Empress for my next cruise.

I agree...I have been on alot of the decks, and keep going back to Riviera or Main (Mid ship, three or four rooms away from the elevators/stairs).. Not only is it cheaper (sometimes), but it is always the quiet and the most stable for people who don't like the motion of the sea. The cruise talk guy always says that it is a great deck. But, if you book anywhere else... be sure you know what is above and below you... I had deck 7 a few cruises ago and it was directly over the casino band stage... AC/DC at 1am is not cool when you are trying to sleep.

We've stayed on the first or second passenger deck on most of our cruises. You're not far from the action, really. The only possible downside I can think of is that if you're forward and outside, you may feel the thrusters when the ship docks.

To add onto your point. Other places I've heard you don't want to be underneath are the galley and the lido deck because the galley is making noise all night and in the early morning hours they're moving deck chairs around on lido. I can't verify that because I've been avoiding them. I'm going to be close to underneath the theater this time but there shouldn't be anything going on in there when I sleep.
