Hi all ........ just to let you all know.

The all new "Royal Nights" have now started on Anthem of the seas :)

Obviously I am thrilled to announce this to you all.

It looks like RCI have listened to some of us :)

My thanks to the Royal Caribbean brand as a whole.

They do listen to us, and we thank you immensely xx

To all ......

It's the new "PC" term for a formal night.

These are on Anthem of the seas (where the don't have formal nights).

The first happened a couple of days ago and the other tonight.

And nearly everyone made the effort and joined in. :)

still...what are royal nights exactly? Another name for a formal night but not quite the same. IS it a separate dinner where you have to opt in if you're feeling like it, but you actually do have to follow a dress code to participate? I guess that's one of the best ideas i've read so far anyway.

I need a beer...

There seems to be some confusion on this. Other people currently on the Anthem are saying "Royal Nights" actually means all the complimentary restaurants serve the same menu. Basically a selection of different items from each menu. No mention of a dress code. Can't see how they could have a dress code without pre warning people.

What's dinner got to do with it ?

But yes ...... In a nutshell that's what I wrote.

This is what I have read as well. Actually it is quite disappointing for those that had specifically booked a particular restaurant for that evening and then to show up and the menu they wanted is not there. 2 items from each menu are offered. No one mentioned dress code.

I don't understand-- so they started this new dining program that I was looking forward to where they have 4 different dining venues with different menus. Now every venue has the same bland, drab menu? Did two days of dynamic dining Classic not quell the naysayers and they are getting rid of the entire concept? Why have four dining rooms at all???

Don't worry. at least you can still smoke in the casino X

We did not see anything about dressing up? But the Royal Night where the biggest let down on this cruise.

We had been looking forward to the Silk menu - and this was what they had:

Add on top of that bad service and you have our Royal Evening on day 2.

They tried this out on our naming ceremony nights and I for one loved it, but understand you might be disappointed if you had booked Silk.

I cannot believe they are back tracking on this,

there are 4 restaurants book the meal type you want and go to that restaurant why change the menu on these royal nights?

is it so the folks on the classic DD can still have their roast beef and two veg (plus yorkshire pud) when they rotate to silk, chic etc.

we have pre booked all our dining online , we will be trying each restaurant on the first 4 nights and then have based the rest of the cruise on our favourite type of food ( in our case more nights in Silk) now we might be in silk looking forward to as Asian and get an English :(

We have pre booked each night, but will be flexible to making changes as we go along,

I really cannot understand the fascination of eating at the same time every night in the same place, over the last 10 cruises we have always chosen the my time dining option (NCL, P+O, RCI and Celebrity)

even then going to the same restaurant every night gets too much like routine when on a 14 night cruise.

And for the formal nights, I though we had escaped those on the Anthem cruise ( it may appear not)

We are going to follow the dress code for the Grand , but I'm not one for the ship wide formal nights :(

its ok for 1 night at the start of the cruise but after that it just feels so false when on previous nights everyone has been dressed casually in the restaurants ship wide

Apparently Stich is as confusing as ever

And gala nights still a figment of his imagination.

I do agree this is kind a mess. Why book restaurants if you are going to end up with a menu with choices from each? You'll be eating in each of them eventually anyway.

The dress code is "dress in your best" .

This has nothing to do with food. its a gala night.

The Politically Correct term for a formal night.

The best of what people actually packed to bring on the cruise may not produce the results that you are hoping for.
