On the last day of the cruise my wife got a invite to join this club, can't really find any info on it online or in here that is recent.

Do they contact us ? Any benefits ? She singed up on piece of paper.

Depending on how active a player you are, the Blue Chip club will send you offers for discounted cruises for players and also will give you cash back in the form of chips available at the casino on your next cruise, or, if you book the cruise with their office, they will apply your earned cash to lower the fare on future cruises. So, definitely call them and see what you have earned.

We were invited to join by the casino manager on the last day of our Infinity cruise last September. In the intervening six months: no offers, no emails, no snail mails. They have no website. The word that comes to mine is "worthless".

I've met some Blue Chip members. They tell me that they are required to bet for a minimum number of hours of their cruise. There is also a minimum bet depending on the game. They sign in when they begin their session. I know on one cruise Blue Chip members were allowed to use Michael's Club. The more you lose (I mean "bet") the more you get. Some people tell me that they figure the cost of the cruise and their goal is to cap their potential loses at that amount. I've also met some who came out way ahead. Guess it depends on skill and luck. Some posters on these board are Blue Chip members and perhaps they will add comments based on their experiences.

I suggest that if you are Blue Chip Club member and want to book your next cruise, give them a call and see what kind of discount they will offer you. And after a cruise, call them to see what cashback you have earned from your play. Admittedly, they do not seem like a very well organized or transparent program, but if you are going to play in the casino, might as well enjoy the benefits...just takes a little effort.

I got an invitation to join in the mail following my first Celebrity cruise on the Summit several years ago. On my second Summit cruise I booked a future cruise on board and was told that the Blue Chip Club was my TA for the cruise. I was fine with that and when I called them to change the cruise I got a nice discount off the fare.

Like a prior poster said, if you play in the casino while on your cruise it can't hurt to try and get benefits. I do believe that the Blue Chip Club is by invitation only? I only play slots and have never had to sign in; my guess is that 'they' track my play with the card I insert into the slot machine. Table play is probably tracked differently.

FYI I emailed yesterday they sent this today

It generally takes a few weeks aftera sailing for us to receive any information regarding member status. Oncewe have that info based on her level of play she may start receiving emailsfor any upcoming promotions. There is no way to view you're membershiponline or get casino pricing. Once she is confirmed a blue chip membershe call 1-866-461-7170 to get casino rates on different sailing's. Thanks

Kind Regards,

Hi OP,

I'm a Blue Chip member and am pretty familiar with the program. The email you received is correct in that it does take about a week and half after the cruise for them to have their system updated.

The first thing you want to do is to check and see if your wife earned a rebate (depending on her play this can be significant or just a couple hundred dollars). The rebate can either be taken as cash from the casino cage on your next cruise or applied to your next reservation as a payment.

You are also entitled to a casino rate on cabins for just about any sailing you choose, the minimum is 20% and can go up from there. I know this is the amount for suites, but is usually quite a bit higher for regular balconies. I only sail in suites so am not sure of the balcony discount as they usually offer them to me for free as my play is pretty high. The casino rate you get can also be applied to another stateroom as well, so if you are traveling with another couple/family member you can book their cabin from the casino and get them the discount as well.

Once you are a member you should start getting other offers for special sailings from them with various free or discounted cabins on select sailings. I know I get free balcony offers for two on a fairly consistent basis with several sail dates to choose from. I was actually pretty surprised last year when in October they sent offers for free balcony cabins with about 7 different christmas/new year sailings that included some really nice 7-14 day Carib itineraries. There are also last minute deals (i.e. one day only offers) that pop up in email from time to time if they are looking to fill up a sailing.

In addition, you get the 5% fee waived for signing chips in the casino, free drinks while you are in there and often the casino host will comp specialty dining or send bottles of wine to your stateroom etc.

Hope this helps!

Neda

Only thing I would add to last poster's comment is that if you book a casino rate they will allow you to cancel the cruise with full refund up to 14 days prior to sailing ( a very nice perk) and they will usually accept a reduced deposit on a cruise if you ask.

  • 4 months later...

Leaving on an Alaska b2b in a couple of days and planning on visiting the casino for the first time (4th-5th Celebrity cruise). Plan on playing blackjack.

Can anyone give me an idea of the level of play (time and amounts bet) that the casino is looking for to award blue chip status?

Roughly 2 hours every day with $50 average bets. It's tracked more now with their new system but it sounds like you're not a heavy gambler so don't expect anything. Last cruise there were only 23 blue chippers.
