Clothing Optional Cruise?

I recently learned that we are booked on a Celebrity cruise immediately following a “clothing optional” charter. I am curious and would appreciate some insight on this.

While my wife and I are products of the 1960’s and 70’s and do not render judgements on lifestyles, we do suffer from a bit of “germ-a-phobia”; me more so than her.

Hopefully my concern is slightly obvious and the question is – where is “clothing optional” permitted? Is it at the pool area thing or is allowed anywhere on the ship?

This topic came up in a discussion on HAL boards several years back and many of those who were on the “clothing optional” cruise were adamant that sitting naked on their designer towel was just as sanitary as sitting anywhere fully clothed. Mentally I didn’t quite get to that point and was glad that the “clothing optional” cruise followed ours, this time it’s the opposite.

I am as opened minded as anyone of my generation but I am simply curious. If you have any insight, kindly advise. Thanks

Two years ago, the cruise that we had booked followed a nude/swingers cruise. I felt as you do, and was really surprised that Celebrity would promote such a cruise. However, once we arrive at the ship, I forgot all about it.:D The ship looked the same as any other Celebrity ship I had been on. No indication of what went on the cruise before ours.;)

Our cruise in December on Silhouette followed a swingers/clothing optional cruise. We learned that the clothing optional option is only on the pool and sun deck. Clothing is required in all other areas, except for your cabin, or someone else's cabin if you are invited:evilsmile:

Didn't bother us at all, after all as someone said, clothing is always optional in your cabin. Much as you Clorox wipe or Lysol spray I don't think it will do much for upholstered furniture.

Summit just finished a nude/swingers cruise yesterday. In addition to outside areas there are designated interior 'play' rooms. I'm sure you can use your imagination there. I assume those spaces are well sanitized at the end of the cruise!

I always Clorox wipe everything, regardless...

You never know what happens in any hotel room you book!

LOL...I was suppose to be on the Summit cruise beginning tomorrow. Cancelled it a while back. Had no idea that we would have followed another nude/swingers cruise. Last time was on the Reflection.

Celebrity doesn't promote these cruises AFAIK. They charter ships out to many different groups who handle the bookings, activities and all promotion.

If you really want to know, bring a hand held black light with you to every hotel room and cruise you take. It will widen your eyes I suspect.

Or cause you to never want to leave your house again. :D

Ah yes, I forgot about the play rooms. We never did find out where they were located.

Actually, an upcoming swingers cruise says there will be a playroom on deck so you can "party" under the stars. Follow this link to find out which cruises. Look for alternative lifestyle.

As far as clothing optional,. dining room is the only place you must dress. I have seen photos of a woman in the casino and by the shops on an X cruise wearing only a sarong

I don't quite know what the big deal is. Doesn't anybody else besides me hang out in your room in a robe after you shower?....and I mean just a robe. The robe is as good a barrier as any towel. Now going out on the balcony in a robe sans underwear is a different story, but even then, as long as you're not doing a retake of the Sharon Stone Basic Instinct scene, there's nothing really wrong with that either...in my humble opinion.

Hello Steve,

Remember when we sailed following the Bare Necessities cruise? I seem to recall you had a "lady" sunning on balcony next to yours. At least that is what you led us to believe.

Hiya Grace. I hope you and Rudy are doing well. There were several who did a B2B on the BN and our cruise. She was an attractive lady and wasn't shy. It wasn't my imagination either. It was the reflection on the balcony glass railing which I accidentally discovered in the correct lighting. ;p

What did you expect to see that was different - uses stuff all over the ship?

We were on a RC ship several years ago, and the cruise following ours was a "clothing optional" cruise. Several of the crew told me they would shrink wrap the theaters to protect the seating. I'm not sure if this is correct or not. Just what they told me.
