19 nights on Pacifica - an excellent cruise

We flew out to BuenosAires with AirEuropa via Madrid. Everything good for a cheapie airline but not much leg room for anyone with long legs.

After 2 nights in BA we went off to the cruise terminal to check in. Chaos and mayhem reigned! 2 hrs later we were in a queue to board the Pacifica - thanks to our Pearl status. It was the usual scrum with some bad mannered Italians pushing in front , happy that they were going to be on the ship quicker by pushing a few people out of their way.

We were on the ship by 1.45. Our premium outside cabin was on deck 2 - almost midship. We realised our cabin steward , a young lady, was not the best as thee were certain things not cleaned up properly from the previous occupants. She was kind enough to let us in so we didn't complain. 3 pillows on the bed were like concrete so she replaced them and gave us 24 wire hangers.

We bought our all inclusive in one of the bars . We decided not to pre buy as buying onboard means you get points on your purchases and get any applicable discount. We used our OBC shareholders benefit for this as well - it made it a little cheaper! $34 each per day for 19 days! It does make you wonder..... BUT it's an absolute no brainer not to buy it. Most days we had our money's worth before the afternoon. It's so nice to order tea and juice from the bar to have with breakfast. The bar staff were pretty good on this cruise - especially when you got to know them.

We had a table for 2 first sitting. 7pm, but we usually came in 15-20 mins later.

The food on the first night wasn't great, but after the first night it was absolutely superb! We have done over 20 cruises and can say with all honesty that the food on Costa Pacifica was the best we have ever had! They obviously got a job lot of beef in Argentina for cheap. Roast beef and steaks were always on the menu. Langoustines were in the buffet every other day and even whole sea bass one day.

Now we have to diet!

Entertainment was the usual Costa affair. We had 3 or 4 good shows. The guys who sing along with the electronic backing drove us crazy with their bad English accents and wrong words being sung, but hey ho!

Costa would be a terrific cruise line if passengers didn't dumb the ships down wearing their over casual clothing in the evenings.

There were 3 Gala nights and some people did make the effort. maybe 15% of men wore a tux or suit. The staff look so smart all the time, it's a real shame people feel they can walk into a bar or buffet in a bikini or speedos!

The decor on Pacidica was not to our liking, but everything was very clean. No norovirus even though most people never used the hand gel!

Off to do the unpacking and washing now

Any questions - I will try and answer.

I think I would have preferred the concrete pillows than trying to rest my head on the 24 wire hangers! :D:D
