Medical Insurance for cruise in 1 week

We are leaving on an Alaskan cruise (including a stop in Victoria) in 10 days. We did not purchase Vacation Protection Insurance from Princess. My mother is now concerned that she will not have medical coverage in the event of an emergency. She has previously had 2 strokes. Her Medicare will cover her in Alaska, but not evacuation from the ship or in Victoria. Can anyone give me advice on how to handle this with our short time frame.

Thanks, Susan

You can purchase a medical policy with little cancellation value ($1) and be covered as of midnight. PEC will be excluded, which is almost anything treated in the last 60 days. But she would be covered for any new medical event, including evacuation. On an Alaskan cruise, there would not be an at-sea evac from the ship, but there could be an unexpected port stop.

The Medjet policy is a transport policy from a hospital (not from the ship) and does not cover medical costs. It is good for what it does, but be sure you understand what it does and does not cover.
