Cooper's Island

Hi,

I'm interested in getting to Cooper's Island preserve during our Bermuda stay 9/6-8/17 on Breakaway. Traveling with my parents who are fairly fit 80 somethings, but I don't want the walk from the bus to ruin enjoyment when we get to the preserve area. I've read a bit about getting there on the bus but it seems that it may not be a consistently good way to get close to the preserve-some of the route's buses go there and some don't. Have also seen reference to "Hoho" bus, but never saw this option when I was there 3 years ago. I'm familiar with bus and water taxis and used them exclusively last time, but I was there with a younger group. Can someone advise me about whether or not the walk from the bus is long or difficult and how to determine whether or not I'm on the bus that will get up as close as possible? Is the walk from the lighthouse a long distance? Can we get closer? What do I ask the bus driver? How do I determine when I can get a bus back? Thanks, Laurie

I believe in the KISS principle so my suggestion would be to forget about the bus and HOHO if there is one, and take a taxi. The fare for up to 4 passengers would be about $18 plus tip. You could hire the taxi at King's Square and ride to the entry of Cooper's Island Reserve. You could make arrangements with the taxi driver to pick you up in 3/4/5 hours.

You would take the ferry from/to the Dockyard to/from St George's.

St David's L/H is about 1.2 miles from the entry to CIR.

Thanks SailBad, I was trying to figure out how to address this to you because I knew I could count on you to be helpful. Appreciate it! Laurie
