We are giving up a summer land trip planned for Canada after seeing this itinerary including an overnight in Havana for November 2017. The ship is supposed to launch October 2017. Hope they get the kinks worked out before we sail! I haven't sailed with Viking, and we love Celebrity, hope this works for us.

Completely different than celebrity, I did two river cruises and will take an ocean cruise in June. All restaurants included, just make reservation before you leave and check when you get on board, also same situation with tours, my understanding is that they update tour times the night before. They have an upgrade on beverage package, you may want to check it out. The shows that I've seen on you tube are very different than celebrity and NCL. If you go to you tube, you will get an idea on what the shows are like. Enjoy your trip

I did see quite a bit online, and I think the comparison to Celebrity will be ok for us. I am satisfied with the size and appearance of our room, and don't miss the casino, photo store, trivia, organized activities one bit, especially dice it's a port intensive cruise. Just hoping the food is good, and we have good weather. I may consider the beverage package, but happy we can bring alcohol on board for drinks in our cabin.

My husband and I just booked the Cuba cruise as well, leaving November 24. We had a great experience on Viking Rive, so we're hoping that the Ocean product is just as good.

I have been trying to find information about this cruise without any success.... Can you give me any other information about the itinerary so that I can try and track it down on the Viking website please? Not sure what I'm doing wrong, but I can't seem to find it!

Thanks

Go to Viking Ocean cruises

At the top of the page, click on ships, and choose Viking Sun

In the selection boxes, click on itineraries

Choose Central American Shores and Cuba, and you will be able to scroll to view dates and pricing

There are two dates in November, we chose the 24th to avoid the very first sailing. Hope this helps!

Many thanks for your response. I tried again, but can still only find the Viking Homelands cruises earlier in the year...perhaps they are not releasing the Cuba itinerary to the UK yet?

If not, here is the itinerary:

Miami FL; Havana, Cuba (2 days); Cozumel, Mexico; Belize City, Belize; day at sea; Key West, FL; Miami, FL

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

Thank you! The link wouldn't work for me, and I cannot access the dot com site - it just automatically changes to dot co dot uk, so I think I'll have to wait for Viking to welcome potential bookings from the UK!

It was interesting to see the itinerary though, so many thanks.

We are going as well, although I forget which date.

If you like Celebrity's food you'll love Viking's - although on Celebrity we didn't sail in the upper category on Summit, which enables you to eat in Blu. That may be on par with Viking's, especially on a new ship with (potentially) new crew.

I'm curious to see what the excursions will be like in Havana. According to a review by travelers on the new Fatham cruise line, it sounds like cruisers were taken a lot of places and the focus was very definitely cultural in keeping with the "People to People" educational focus that Cuba wants to uphold.

We also just booked this Cuba itinerary. It sounds wonderful. When I booked, I didn't realize that this ship was so new that it hasn't even sailed yet. We booked the 11/17/17 cruise - hope its really sailing by then. Excited!

Having sailed on both Celebrity and Viking as well as many other cruise lines, I can assure you that you will be more than satisfied with your experience on Viking Ocean cruises. The layout of their ships is outstanding, their staff is well trained, their food is excellent and their entertainment top notch. Whether you like it better than Celebrity is a matter personal preference, but I can say without hesitation you won't be disappointed.

We are also looking into the Cuba itinerary; so we may see you there.
