Be aware, cruising can be addictive.

Sounds like a great idea. You might want to use a travel agent to help you find good rates.

Just be aware that cabins are priced PER PERSON...so a cabin cost double the "per person" price. Most folks think this is a rip-off...but that's how they do it...don't be surprised!

Now you have to work on step number 2.

Decide where you want to go and when.

the downside - it can be expensive.

the upside - do whatever you want.

i enjoy my own company. its not weird doing things alone or eating alone so solo cruising suits me very well. if you are confident and happy on your own, do it! you can choose to chat with people or keep to yourself (shared dinner table, or solo)

As mentioned, visit the solo cruisers board and you'll find lots of information. My last two cruises were solo and I loved it! The larger NCL ships have studio cabins and you don't have to pay the double occupancy rate for those. They're more than the per-person double occupancy rate, but you do usually save a few hundred dollars that way. Plus they have a solo gathering each evening so you can meet others traveling solo if you're interested in dining with others or seeing shows.

Some Royal Caribbean ships have solo cabins, but I don't know which ones.
