Sky Loft Upgrade?

Recommended Posts

I am booked on Harmony, and was called and offered a Sky Loft upgrade for $1500USD.

How often is this type of thing offered? I'm assuming this is because they oversold the balcony guarantee rooms and now need people to move.

Any thoughts?

They're offering you a suite at a substantial discount (assuming you're booked in a balcony guarantee). This is a Star Class Suite, which, along with other suite benefits, includes:

* Royal Genie

* Free UBP

* Free Internet

* Free Gratuities

These are probably worth the $1,500 alone, even if you are already booked in a suite. If you're in a Star-class suite already, the upgrade might not be that attractive.

As for how often its offered, that will depend on the sailing. They are offering this go generate additional revenue. Their costs are substantially lower than the additional $1,500, PLUS they can now sell your old stateroom for retail price. All lines do this to some degree. If you don't jump on it, they'll call someone else and offer them the same thing.

Could be either way. Balcony guarantee oversold, or Sky Loft undersold.

I think free dining at specialty restaurants is included also for Star Class Suites. Applies to everyone in the room.

Yes, specialty dining too.

Dining in Coastal Kitchen, too.

Priority in pretty much everything.

Escort on and off the ship.

Direct to your suite.

Luggage taken on and off personally instead of waiting.

So in the end we decided to take it, I would never be able to afford such luxury, it turns out they (so they claim) over sold the balcony guarantees and need to move people, and while some would say I shouldn't have to pay, he was very willing to simply hang up and call the next passenger and try.

Basically I got a $10,000 suite for $4,500. My view is for $10K I could do 3 cruises in a balcony or 1 in a mega suite --- I'm doing 3 cruises all day... So we took the plunge.

Looking forward to trying it out that's for sure!

Our first Allure cruise a couple years back we booked a GS and upselled to a CL 2 for $700.

The next year we booked a GS on Allure and got upselled to a CL 1 for $600.

Then the next year we booked GS 14730 first year when it was still a GS before it became an A4, kept it not offered upsell, and will not do again.

Waste of money.

Well, now that it is obvious we like the CL, we booked one for next year on the Allure and it is rather $$$ , so eagerly watching for price drops.

I normally don't answer when unknown numbers show up on Caller ID. Do upsell fairies all call from one area code, or one state? As we get closer to sail date, I may start answering these calls.

I don't either. I hope I haven't blocked them. I seem to remember some time ago adding RC to my contacts, but how many different numbers could they call you from?

We're in a GS for the Harmony TA, and when I checked the other day, there were still quite a few higher end suites available. I think the difference to go to an OS was close to 6k! (and we'd still be Sky class). :eek:

I would love to get an upsell call though just to see what they had to offer.

Sounds like the OP got a nice deal! Granted, $1500 is not chump change, but if it really is a Sky Loft Suite, you got a great deal. I hope you have a fabulous cruise, and that you enjoy every second. We were pleasantly surprised with an upgrade at checkin from a Crown Loft to a Sky Loft on the Allure, and that was before the whole Genie program. We loved it!

SL is a great upgrade. It is Sky class which also has very nice amenities over a regular balcony plus you're in your private enclave of deck 17 have the lounge and coastal kitchen, suite only sun deck. Free wifi. Etc etc etc. it's a no brainer.

Congratulations to the OP! I am just off the Oasis, our first CL and we loved our Loft! Also loved being on Deck 17, so convenient to the Suite Lounge and Coastal Kitchen. We are on the Harmony in November on a ocean view balcony guarantee, and just got our room assignment. Darn, I wish it had been an upgrade to a Loft Suite!

We have done the Grand suites, and then moved up to the Crown Lofts on both the Oasis & the Allure.

I can assure you that you will really enjoy your upgrade!

You have an exclusive hallway, the easiest closest access to the suite lounge and of course the new perks with the Sky class.

I would have definitely done it!

  • 4 weeks later...

How'd you like the Crown Loft? Worth the price of admission??

We just upgraded to a JS guarantee, sail in 39 days, and there are about 20 suites still available to book. I'm hoping to get a similar call (or just an upgrade.....yea right!) :-)

OMG it's awesome. I mean I would never pay full price for it - the reserved seats for all shows is awesome and the costal kitchen is super convenient being so close and the food and service is good. I don't drink much so it's nice to grab a few for free during happy hour, the food in the suite lounge is nice a few light snacks around dinner hour.

The room is totally not necessary but we really feel treated like royalty and the room is so nice we could stay for weeks. The view from a Deck 17 balcony is awesome.

It's so very choice. If you have the option for a cheap upgrade and can swing it - do it. I hope I get another chance at a deal like this..
