Booked an inside for 2a1c deck 7 midship for 13. may next year transatlantic on Magic at 4700 dollar today, and a lot of cabins are already gone..... Prices on other cruises in summer 2018 are at the very high end, but also they are selling out fast today!

I suspect there are a lot of 72 hr holds going on that will not be sold. The last couple releases had dramatic pricing increases the first week. So people have them placed on hold while they figure out if they want to pay the current costs.

Opening day prices are typically the lowest but not always. A lot of people place a 72 hour hold or make a booking during opening day/week. They may then opt to cancel. We've seen summer specialty cruises go to *GT status after the penalty date when many people have canceled! *GT rates are typically about the same as opening day rates...sometimes just a bit higher, occasionally a bit lower. It all depends on how full the ship is after the penalty date.

Summer 17 did the same basic thing...but if you look now, there is availability on almost every cruise and special rates on a few.
