Has anyone ever hit a jackpot on slots on the ships?

Been there, done that. Have the W2-g to prove it.

Really ticks me off as I have to show that as income even though I ended the night in the negative.

Get your win loss statement from the cruise line. And talk to your accountant. You may balance winnings with losses to reduce the tax bite.

You can deduct losses up to the amount of you wins, but no more than that. You must itemize your deductions on Schedule A (as opposed to taking the standard deduction). If you don't itemize, you cannot deduct any gambling losses, unfortunately.

True that. Thanks for providing more detail than I did. I always tell people to consult their accountants when giving casual tax advice!

OK...here is one for the record books. I was on Celebrity Summit years ago and was playing slots. I was working this one machine when I ran out of money...so I headed over to the money cage to cash a travelers check. In the meantime a honeymoon couple started to play that same machine. I got right back in time to watch them hit $10,000 on their third pull. Adding insult to injury...on the last night I was playing a different machine and, of course, ran out of money and headed for the cage. Would you believe, the same honeymoon couple stepped up and hit for another $10,000 on their first pull, just as I was making it back to the machine. Timing is everything!!! :loudcry:

I rarely play slots, but hit a $3k jackpot on the NCL Breakaway earlier this month (last night of the cruise) while waiting for the poker table to open. It was a Quick Hits penny machine, and I was playing max bet $3.00.

Same - $3000+ on Quick Hits on Getaway! Except for the 'rarely play slots' bit. :D And mine came as I was killing the 15 minutes before my round of the slot tournament started. Needless to say, the slot players in my round were none to happy about having to wait for me to fill out tax forms. Also not too happy about me then winning that round of the tourney as well. :') That was the largest win I've ever had - on land and at sea!

Currently On the Jade...hit the 3 double diamonds on a. $5 machine the other night...thought the casino manager and the slot employee were going to have a stroke! Happy $4000 to me (with a W2 form [emoji853])

I won $2,600.00 on the Navigator of the Seas within the first hour of them opening up on my 9 night cruise this March of 2017.

That is my fourth Jackpot on a cruise.

$1200.00 Carnival 2011

$2100.00 NCL 2011

$2400.00 Royal 2012

$2600.00 Royal 2017

Never won a Jackpot on Celebrity, and between 2011 and 2016 I sailed at least 10 times.....

Has anyone participated in Royal's cruise late in the year as a winner of a Satellite Slot Tournament from another cruise? Would love to hear about your experience. I was lucky enough to win a spot from our Anthem cruise in April and will be going on a 5 nighter on Indy in early December.

Just got home from the Jewel last week. I hit $1500 on a Quick Hit and the next evening hit $3700 on the same machine. The $3700 was the last night so I still have it and most of the $1500. I put $600 in so came out ahead. We're going on the Epic in December and I plan on putting the money back lol..

I have hit $1,000 on wheel of fortune twice and hit also on Pink Panther. Not on the same trip. Yes I agree the machines need to be a little looser. This past trip I was playing $5 on roulette and was hitting my number 3 days in a row.

I won &3200 on a Quick Hit penny slot on the breakaway in Sept 2017! Wonder if it was the same machine. I'll be on the breakaway in march and plan to visit that slot machine.

I have hit multiple jackpots $2,000 and < on both Princess and NCL. Our last cruise was in 2016 on the NCL Epic on a 10 day Italy coast itinerary round trip from Barcelona. The first night of the cruise I could not sleep so at 3 am I got up and dressed and headed to the casino for a little slot time so not to wake up my husband. I and a few casino staff members were the only people in the casino and I sat down at a progressive penny machine that had a max bet of $3.00/spin. On the 3rd max bet spin I hit the jackpot for $7,500. After I collected my cash I did go and wake my husband up to share the news and needless to say he was not upset ;). The stars must have been lined up for this cruise because in addition to winning this jackpot I was comped a Haven suite, and on our flight home Air France bumped us up to business class and those seats convert into actual beds and I slept all the way back to Boston like a baby.

We had a few on inaugural Panama Canal cruise on NCL Bliss. Here’s my royal flush on Ultimate X.

Mike also hit on Ultimate X and Heidi brew house.dcb29316fd1aef2e57522dbd81601b19.jpg099ae74d83fc8e1bd11c9f15c3198d61.jpg

We also had fun on other slots but not necessarily jackpots:248bdcdfeb222492a49d5a98cc026eac.jpg

Hi! I do enjoy playing the slot machines on cruises occasionally, but have never really won anything to speak of, and the machines seem rather "tight". I've never seen anyone hit a jackpot or come even close, and am curious if anyone has ever hit...I usually play the Quarter machines, max bet (.75) and it's a fun no stress type of entertainment until I decide I've lost enough money. (no more than $100. total) So...any big winners out there? I'd love to hear your stories!

I just went on the Anthem of the seas 9-15-18 bermuda five night cruise and last night before I went to dinner I heard the bells go off on a machine near me. I thought she hit 4000 coins on a $.25 cent machine but then looked again and it was a $25 machine and the woman hit for $40,000

I have a question about how winnings are paid. We are going on a cruise in November and I want to try my hand at the slot machines. I saw a picture on this thread earlier of a woman fanning 3K - 4K in $100. bills. Do they really pay you in cash, even when you win big? (That's big to me!) I'd be afraid someone would try to mug me when I got off the ship back home. At what point do they pay you by check? I also realize the chances of my winning big are slim, but a lady can dream....

I’m the woman, yes they pay you in cash. I don’t think I still have that video on my phone. It was on NCL sun thanksgiving day 2016. South America cruise around the horn. I’ll see if I still have it. That was a fun day. Both Mike and I hit Royals on dollars within hours of each other!4bf4489a296a51f94edc9f0715c7ec27.jpg

Yes they pay you in cash! $4000.00 each. We went and put the money on our account.

Just FYI: We play A LOT of video poker. We have practiced for many many hours for free on our computer back in the 90s. We look for games with good odds, good pay tables. (Which don’t really exist anymore, even in Las Vegas). Anyway dollars had better odds than quarters on that ship. (I usually play quarters).

Good luck!
