Back to Back turnaround in Rome

We are doing the holy land eastern med cruise followed by a transatlantic on the Celebrity Silhouette. Our turnaround is Rome.

For any of you who have done something similar, wondering if they will offer some tour of Rome and back to the ship. The shore excursions seem to end at the airport or hotel.

We have been to Rome twice already, but still don't want to spend the day just sitting on the ship. Unless there is something to do in Civitavecchia.

Your cruise line may offer such a tour -- generally these are not made available until you are actually onboard for the first cruise.

Alternatively, since you've been to Rome before (and presumably are at least a little familiar with it), why not take the train on your own to Rome and see a few things? It's very easy, especially when not toting luggage.
