Not true, you can very easily be pressured into giving tips.

Again mine stated I liked to tip just didn't like the constant push for them or the need to tip someone because they sold me something.

But since it's my first day back at work and I'm having a beautiful Monday I'll take your comment as not being a ding and say for you to have a good day also 😉😉😉

No offense meant. I just don't want to be pre-empted into giving tips.

Have a good day too!:)

And small word.. we were those people that just stopped by to experience a different type of drink/atmosphere in the Piano bar. The bar tender said "we have a private party starting in ten minutes. Please take your drinks and come back after 10". Our response was wow, we didn't even know that was an option. But we'll come back at 10 and see what's going on (we'd never been in a piano bar before). No sooner then the words were out of our mouth at least 3 members starting talking trash. We became completely uncomfortable while waiting for our drinks and started having to defend our actions. It still at this point was not 10 pm and members of the piano club party started chiming in. Honestly I wish security would have been called. I wish the way that the members of this club acted would have caused them to not be able to continue with this party. We are a fun group of 6 adults who brought our children on a cruise for the first time and were simply looking for a good time. Had we just been allowed to get our drinks before the private party started and leave and come back we could have all had some wonderful conversations. I think the actions of many members of that group were uncalled for and brought a negative face to any future piano groups we see on future cruises. I actually took it upon myself to email carnival and ask them to review any future bookings with the group that was there that night. Do I think it'll stop them from being allowed to book? No. But do i think it might make carnival add some security to any future parties with this group yes. I also asked if there is a time buffer to which the room needs to be cleared out before the reserved time and they said no.

I decided not to include this interaction in my original post because I wasn't sure how to address it. Since you commented I decided to reply my thoughts. I hope you enjoy any future cruises you take. Thanks.

I'm so sorry that was your experience; I wanted to address it because I, and many others, are embarrassed that you were treated that way. One of the main organizers was appalled when he read my earlier post and sent me a message for the details because he wasn't there when it happened; if he was present I'm sure he would have had words with the group members and apologized to you on the spot. I actually DID apologize but I don't know if you were still there at the time (I was sitting on the port side of the piano, not the hallway side). Most of us do not have that attitude and it's a shame you unfortunately encountered the few that do. I hope you don't lump us all together but can understand that you have a sour taste in your mouth from the experience.

Pretty rotten to be talked to in a rude manner. Sounds like it was completely unnecessary. We actually walked in a venue while on the Magic that was hosting a private party. Total mistake. The people invited us to stay. We didn't, but they were very cool about it. And why not be polite - beats being a jerk everytime. I'm glad you made Carnival aware.

We enjoyed our cruise on the Magic. Hope to sail her again one day.

You did a great job for a first review.

I just wanted to say that I'm sorry you were disappointed with Costa Maya. It's one of our favorite places. If you ever happen to get back there - get away from the port area and go to Mahahual. There is a restaurant there called Tropicante and the owner is Steve from Texas. He is a great host and will reserve loungers, schedule snorkeling, beach massages, whatever you want for your day. There is no pressure to buy something and no hassles. Just a nice beautiful relaxing beach day.

We are 10 days away from our Carnival Magic cruise (Eastern side this time) and I can't wait!

We were told by a frequent cruiser that your first cruise you try to do everything but after that it's a little more relaxing!! Can't wait till our next one :) we will spend a lot more time on the beach

I find this to be totally true! That's what we did on our first AND second cruise. On our 2nd cruise, we were on the Oasis, so we were trying to do everything on that ship and just isn't possible because of its size (she's huge).

We now have our 3rd cruise planned and relaxation is exactly what we will be doing! :)

Thank you for the nice reviews. We will be a party of 20. (So far) on the Magic June 11. All reviews are important to me and I love reading the good and the bad. A couple years back we sailed western and we found Cozumel port people to be very pushy. Thanks again, I enjoyed...

I loved going with a large group so I hope you guys do to !! We didn't get to spend a lot of time walking around cozumel and instead spent a lot of time at Mr sanchos.

Nice review!

HAL had the worst towel animals. Looked like they didn't have any experience making them.

Thank you ! We ended up loving our towel animals. We tried to make them stick for the entire week but I kept messing them up by accident 😆😆

I agree about the rudeness. We loved the Magic to and hope to book with her down the road. I'd love to try the eastern route !!

Is the area you are talking about over by the beach/restaurants and shopping? If so we loved that place and would go straight there if we make it back!! I can't wait to try out the eastern route. I hope you guys have an awesome cruise !!

I am going to try really hard to relax on our 2nd cruise. If nothing else I'm forcing on our 3rd 😆😆😆

I hope you guys have an awesome and relaxing time!!

Thank you for the review. 227 days until it's my turn on the Magic!

You are going to love it ! Please try the number 4 pizza at the 24 hour pizza place. It was absolute favorite and my husband and children loved the burger joint. The bubbles package was a waste for my kids, they lived on the boats water and it didn't taste funny. Seriously they drank a total of 5 pops the entire time. Next time I'll just bring 12 packs. I won't do the Cheers program again either. I love to drink (socially) but I found myself drinking just so I could try to get my monies worth, for sure never did on port days. Next time I'll buy a huge bottle of vodka, keep it in my room and just pour it in a water bottle to walk around with and put in my drinks. The kids loved the club for teens if you're taking teens. And the movies were pretty great too !

So I am completely new to this site and I can't for the life of me figure out how to start a new thread. I am cruising Carnival Magic this summer and have a question about an interior spa room. Can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks!

On the top of the threads section there is a blue button New Thread. Click on that, give it a title (make it clear what your question is--not "interior spa cabin") and then type your questions and submit. Welcome!

I was on this cruise too.

Agree the food was horrible. I had trouble finding a meal I liked. I mean the pizza and deli are the same every cruise you really can't screw them up. Guys was a disappointment to me. The burgers where never fresh nor was I ever offered anything else vs burger with cheese. On all other sailings they have always had fresh burgers and asked us what style we wanted. When I asked for a ringer I felt like I was putting the guy out who served me. We never made it to the MDR or had room service. BBQ was just OK to me but beat the buffet.

Had great bar tenders and enjoyed the Cheers package.

The casino area was so bad with smoke. I've been on 14 other cruises and never had one this bad. New ship should of had a better air scrubber or something.

We loved Mr Sanchos again too. Belize we had a fun snorkel tour with SHARKS! Roatan we zip lined which was fun. Wish I wasn't I'll that day so I could of enjoyed more about the port. Got so car sick on the way back had to rush back to the room to recover. Costa Maya was a fail for me. Never been and had no plans but thought we would wing it. Got off the ship to explore and where back in an hour if that long. It was too busy with the ships in port. I couldn't handle the crowds had nothing we needed to shop for. Tried to find our way out for a while to see if we could pick up a tour but gave up. Spent a relaxing afternoon on the ship instead.

Thought service was meh.. great bar tenders but that's about it. Could hardly find a clean table on the Lido. Already mentioned my issues with Guys burger. Our steward was good to us but our friends next door never got enough towels, drinking glasses, some days never got service. We had the same steward!

Over all we had fun and enjoyed! Was just a little disappointed in many things. Expected much more from a newer ship!

  • 3 weeks later...

To the original Poster, your review was great. We will be going on this ship and itinerary in April, I was wondering you mentioned that in Costa Maya you were approached by someone renting golf carts for you to take around, how much did you pay and for how long? Thank you
