Liberty Sighting - What have they done?

Last week I was docked on another ship in Cozumel near Liberty of the Seas. What have they done?! It had these horrible giant Carnival style water slides on the highest level at the aft of the ship. Horrible thing to do to such a beautiful ship. It looks like a floating amusement park now. So sad. I saw Freedom of the Seas a few days later. It did not have this modification. I guess the young and the young at heart will enjoy the slides, but to me it looks like a horrible mess on top of such a beautiful ship.

The new slides are there for those who want to use them, and for the rest of the passengers who don't, they will probably never see them when they're on the ship. I'm sure Royal cares little for what non passengers think.

The slides are at the back of the ship. How the ship "looks" from afar really doesn't have an impact on the experience. Those slides are a blast!

So choose Freedom instead?

It's a bunch of slides. They look fun to me.

I found the hallway carpet on Freedom to be terrible looking, but it didn't affect my cruise at all.

There is a big difference between carpet inside and adding an ugly massive twisting slide structure to the top of a ship. Good gravy! :) Have you even seen it?

It appears there is no issue with RCL turning into Carnival by the readers so far it seems.

And I am booked on Freedom in the fall - Thank you!

The "horrible giant Carnival style water slides" are the very reason we chose Liberty for our upcoming cruise for our family !!!! To each his/her own I suppose. ;)

Slides do not bother me, I will never use them, they were added last year during retrofit

I welcome the new toys - something to do in between spins on the Flowrider!

Yep. Liberty is not the only Royal ship currently with slides, Adventure and Harmony also have them with more ships to come.

They did a much better job on the Liberty than they did in the Navigator which was sailing from Galveston previously.

When DW &I I sailed the Liberty, it was just us, the kids stayed home.

Even so, we appreciated that there was this huge complex dedicated to keeping other people's kids away from areas we enjoyed.

Probably will be going back with our kids this summer.

How dare they put additional entertainment options on their ships!!

Hey...put your money where your mouth is. We did a b2b on Liberty last October. No issue in our mind to the slides.

Was on the Liberty over New Years, and the slides did not detract from the beauty of the ship at all. In fact, we will be on her again in 2019. We did have fun watching the people use the Flowrider, but didn't dare to try the slides.

The slides and Tidal Wave are great. Love the new mini golf on the front of the ship. I wouldn't prefer Freedom. No musical!

We enjoyed our Christmas cruise on the LOS, and plan another RC cruise (different ship and itinerary) in the future, but I agree with you and Ladysilver.

OMG I just looked up some pix of it on Google .. what a hideous mess .. looks cheap too .. like it could just fall right over the side in heavy seas ... and why orange and green??

Not a fan of water slides? Wait till you see Harmony!

BTW - none of that bothers me. It's one thing if someone thinks a ship looks like another line - its another altogether to be it! :rolleyes:
