SPacificbound Posted February 20, 2017 #1 Share Posted February 20, 2017 My husband would like to go back to Vietnam. We have never been on a river cruise. What river cruise line would be the best for Vietnam? Thank you in advance. :)
TravelerThom Posted February 20, 2017 #2 Share Posted February 20, 2017 My husband would like to go back to Vietnam. We have never been on a river cruise. What river cruise line would be the best for Vietnam? In Nov 2015 I used Vantage from Hanoi to Angkor Wat and then a week on the Mekong ending with several days in Saigon/HCMC. The trip exceeded my expectations, but virtually every Mekong vendor gets excellent reviews here on Cruise Critic (and as I'm sure you know, CCers are not shy about complaining). This was my first visit to Vietnam, but I am of an age that I had many friends go to Vietnam in the late '60s and early '70s, some of who did not survive. While the US had tens of thousands killed, Vietnamese losses were in the millions. Despite that, the Vietnamese welcome Americans with genuine warmth; the Buddhist adage that hatred of someone else hurts only you seems to be in full force. No matter what vendor you select, I don't think you will be sorry. Search the River Cruising board for "Vietnam", "Viet Nam" and "Mekong" and you should get comments on a number of vendors. CJcruzer Posted February 20, 2017 #3 Share Posted February 20, 2017 We went with AMA waterways in 2011, we also added on the land portion along the coast, visiting Hue, Hoi-An, etc...
Mark_T Posted February 21, 2017 #4 Share Posted February 21, 2017 They are all good, just decide what you want from comparing the itineraries and the style of the ships along with the price of course. We went with Viking and were very happy.
