Oasis - questions need help ASAP

We are considering cruising the Oasis this summer - we are nine points away from Diamond and usually sail in a suite...On the Oasis is a Jr. Suite a good choice? Will we get double points for sailing in the Jr. Suite? I would love to do the crown loft suite but this is our summer trip and we normally don't break the bank for our summer trip :)

Anyone have advise or know if Jr. Suite is worth it or just go with a regular balcony

Thanks

You will get an extra point per night in a JS.

Before we can comment on "worth it", we would need to know the total cost to upgrade to a JS from a balcony.

Bob - so a Jr Suite on the Oasis qualifies for double points, I know on the other ships (FOS IOS etc) they do not - I don't really know the price difference because our dates are very flexible - would we still have access to concierge lounge, breakfast in Chops?

A Junior Suite gets an extra point per night on all ships.

A Junior Suite does grant access to any lounges in and of itself, and no breakfast in Chops either.

However, guests in a Junior Suite do have the perk of dinner in Coastal Kitchen on Oasis and Quantum class ships.

Yes, they do. Any JS on any ship receives two points per night. (if you are solo in that JS, THREE points per night) :)

But the JS gets very few other perks. No Concierge Lounge access. No breakfast anyplace special.

We sailed a Jr. Suite on Oasis and loved it. In addition to the extra space, we liked having access to Coastal Kitchen. If the price was doable, I'd only sail this class on Oasis.

Thanks

What can you tell me about Coastal Kitchen or the ship in general

Thanks - great menu, is this included in the cost of the Jr Suite or is it an additional cost

I was just on with RCCL and it looks like a 1,800 difference in a balcony on deck six and a Jr Suite - the biggest perk for us is that Jr Suite would get us to Diamond regular balcony gets us at 78 points (just under diamond)

What are your thoughts .....I know you are a wealth of information on RCCL :)

CK does a wonderful dinner, service is excellent, and the venue is the best view of the ship. We were on the first cruise where CK had a different menu every night. They had some classic items every night and then a few different ones each night. We ate dinner there 3-4 times, Chops twice, and Giovanni's once.

We have done the Allure and Oasis, both times in a suite, and once you go Oasis class you will never go back. I guess it's really a matter of taste. But our first cruise on Oasis was a family gathering (read obligation) and DW and I went with the attitude we won't like it, it's to big and to crowded. Our favorite cruise prior was on a 55K ton Oceania transatlantic.

Well guess what? The second day we were planning the next Oasis class cruise with our children and grandchildren, which is now set for October. This last trip on the Allure it was just DW and I. We never left the ship.

Interesting - we just went to Allure and we like the itinerary better (St Thomas, St Kitts, Nassau) vs Oasis (Falmouth, Labadee, Cozumel) and it is 500 less than the Oasis for the same week in a Jr Suite....

I'm tempted to do Allure - we live in Florida (5 miles from PC) which is why we were thinking of Oasis

Such a tough choice - lol - life is difficult!

You can buy a lot of perks for $1800.;)

That $1800 is way more that we would pay to upgrade from a balcony to a JS!

Any opinion on Allure - it's s little cheaper for a jr suite and better itinerary

I would normally be OK with a $400 jump to a JS for a 7-day cruise. I'd go a bit more for Oasis class because I dislike the layout of the Oasis class balcony staterooms so much.

No one has mentioned that while there is no charge for Coastal Kirchen, it is only available to those in a JS for dinner (not breakfast or lunch).

Can't imagine that fact would be a huge impact in your decision making process, but wanted you to have full disclosure.

I wouldn't pay $1800 more for the JS. I would use that money to do a short 3 nighter to get the points.

We're actually doing Anthem next month. Not thrilled with the ports but couldn't justify the $2k upcharge to do Allure with better ports. Excited to try our first big ship. We're also just about to hit Diamond. DH spends a lot of time in the casino and was offered a free cruise from that so he's sailing out next week to get the points to push us over.

All of the Oasis-class ships, Oasis, Allure and Harmony change between western and eastern caribbean every other week, so they have more or less the same itineraries! :-)

We have done Allure and Harmony, doing Oasis for the first time in just 3 weeks time. Looking forward to trying the oldest sister among them. We're actually doing Nassau, St. Thomas and St. Maarten this time. On Allure we did Labadee, Falmouth, Cozumel.
