Docking Location

The Manhattan Cruise Terminal is on the west side of Manhattan on 12th avenue right on the Hudson River. If you are embarking in NY and coming from an airport all the yellow cab drivers know where it is. If you are disembarking getting a yellow cab can sometimes be challenging that time of the morning.

When we left Marina in May 2015 the line for cabs was around the block.

When we left Sirena in mid-October the line wasn't bad at all. We still accepted a "free lance" offer. The driver had to go back to get his car and we waited. In the interim there was a little accident when a Verizon truck hit a parked SUV, causing a real traffic jam. By the time the driver got back with his car he couldn't get up to where we were so he quickly parked and ran up to us. By the time we got back to the car he was receiving a ticket ... even though alternate side parking was lifted that day.

It was not a good day for him ...

As the posters above have already stated, you'll likely dock in Manhattan. You can check that on nycruise.com if you like, including, I think, the exact pier. In September we slid into the pier near the Intrepid Museum (I think!). The cab situation upon disembarkation wasn't too bad. We waited in a line for the non-gypsy drivers and I think it was only about a ten minute wait.

If you want to see the Statue of Liberty, get out on deck at least a half hour pre-docking - probably more, as often cruise ships get in earlier than their scheduled times.

Here's a fun webcam for the port of NY: www.portnywebcam.com/
