was wondering if anyone used their total rewards points to get a discount off their cabin? If so, does the casino dept handle the reservation? thx

I called the casino department at NCL and told them my Total rewards # and received a 10% discount.

The higher the tier you are in Total Rewards, the higher the discount.

You don't use your points. Depending on your tier they will give you a discount. For example diamond tier gets 20% off. Additionally when you book through The casino (they are called Casinos at Sea) you will get a drink card for free drinks in the casino.

If you book through CAS there should be a casino drink card in your cabin.

Hm, I booked through the casino too, to get (in my case--TR Platinum) 10% off...I thought it came with a drink card too, but didn't specifically ask I don't think? I know Royal Caribbean works that way, but this is the first time I've booked through the casino with NCL. Maybe it depends on what level you are with the casino?

Yes. The first time I ever cruised was because I had a "free" cruise certificate from total rewards land based casino. And was happily surprised that the drink card was in the casino. Even the 3rd and 4th people in the cabin received the card. It's cool cause even though I normally opt for the UBP perk, the casino drink card is. Ice because it includes bottled water and Red Bull.

You can go to the casino and get a drink any time you want. Don't even have to be gambling. Just walk up to the bar.

The Casino Drink Card is only good while the casino is open and you can take your drink out of the casino when you are done. To get a drink anywhere in the casino, I had always been required to present either the Casino Card or my room card (with UBP indicated). I have never been able to just walk up to the bar in the casino and order a drink

If ANYONE could just walk up to the bar and get a free drink, there would be no reason to issue drink cards.

I got credit for two for an inside room, they allowed me to upgrade to a Haven room and gave me the credit toward it. I also received all the Haven perks. I saved 1900.00 on my Haven booking.

Until they knew me, they would ask for drink card or room card.

OK. I am a bit confused. I booked though CAS I assume. I used the phone number on the TR website. I got a 10% diamond discount since I booked an Owner's Suite. So from what I am reading here, the UBP is valid in the casino? I assume that I will have a drink card in the room. Can I only get bottles of water with the drink card in the casino since the UBP doesn't cover water? Not that it matters much since I get unlimited water in the room. I also assume that it would be better to wait and board with suite guests than with CAS. If it matters, I am sailing the Dawn out of Puerto Rico.

Yes, you will use the UBP in the casino for drinks except water and red bull in which case you will use the CAS drink card.
